System massively slowed down by Safari (or Chrome)

glad i found this thread. I have the same problems, over time the computer grinds to a halt, but even closing Chrome wouldn't fix it. Once it happened, it happened and I would have to restart. I've just turned off hardware acceleration in Chrome so fingers crossed.... It made my whole computer glitch to a crawl, audio would stutter, all motion would slow down but there was nothing in activity monitor to suggest any problems

For most people, the issue is fixed with the latest drivers (including me).

I'm on 387.10.10.10.35.106 (Up to date)
on 10.13.5

Is 10.13.6 a potential remedy? I might have a quick image and give it a go tomorrow. Thanks
