[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks guys, the file looks fine, but that the checksum of the installESD.dmg doesn't match the one on.
Any ideas?
thanks again.
Are you saying that the shasum checksums don't match between the original file on Mac and the copy on USB stick? And if you delete and re-copy the file to the USB stick, do the checksums agree?

@Anim8me2, you may want to consider copying SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-NO-CNVW.aml to the ACPI/patched folder. But if you're booting Windows through Clover, this may render the Intel CNVi card invisible to Windows as well.

Thanks correct, I try many times same results,.
Im disconnecting from my router, stop littler Snitch and do the process again.
I will report that back ASAP, any other Ideas?
Thanks for your help man.

Glad to hear! For the benefit of other Vega owners running this system, what are the final settings that made everything work?
  • BIOS --> iGPU --> Disabled
  • BIOS --> Initial Display Output --> PCIe 1 Slot
  • SMBIOS = iMacPro1,1
  • AAPL,ig-platform-id = ?? Did you use any value for this, or just omitted it?
  • Lilu and WhateverGreen installed (/Library/Extensions)
  • VegaTab kext
  • Any other relevant settings?
  • BIOS --> iGPU --> Disabled
  • BIOS --> Initial Display Output --> PCIe 1 Slot
  • SMBIOS = iMacPro1,1
  • Lilu and WhateverGreen installed (not in /Library/Extensions. Installed in EFI/Clover/kexts/Other – I did a clean Vanilla installation, not Multibeast)
  • No AAPL, ig-platform-id needed. No GPU-related renames needed.
  • I injected a custom made PowerPlayTable for the GPU fans, made especially for ASUS ROG STRIX RX VEGA 64 (the minimum PWM limit value and power limit wattage and current limit values which are included in the PowerPlayTable are different for each manufacturer and should be adjusted). I don’t use a VegaTab kext.
Wonderfully working properties value for my ASUS ROG Strix Vega 64:

I have the Aorus Xtreme running now following this great guide. I have only ran into a couple of issues. My machine has randomly rebooted a few times, once copying my Logic folder to an external thunderbolt drive, and once when I was playing around with the screen properties. I am getting a weird clicking sound almost like an electrical arc during the boot phase. Sometimes during that clicking/arc sound the pc reboots back to the bios. This is during the apple logo white progress bar phase. If I load windows from clover I never get that sound. I think it might be the corsair cooling pump H100i rgb. Thinking it was that I tried the full set of kexts from the go the extra mile guidance but after copying the kexts and removing fakeSMC the machine would not boot. I had to pull the M2 back out to remove that stuff and reinstall to get back up. I have tried disconnecting the usb from the corsair cooler and it still does it. Maybe the CPU rpm from the motherboard sensor?? I did move a pciexpress AVB network card that might have been conflicting with the M2 possibly which might have been the TB copy reboot. I will post more when I get home.. can the hardware monitor stuff be copied one at a time to see what killed it when I did all at once? Sorry for long post

I would strongly advise against switching to the KGP FakeSMC at this time. Someone encountered a problem recently and I may delete them from the build guide.

You can certainly install the standard FakeSMC just by itself and then install its associated sensor kexts one at a time.

If you are using any of the PCIe x1 slots, I would also recommend copying the SSDT-DESIGNARE-Z390-NO-CNVW.aml to the CLOVER/ACPI/patched folder. Although you have the AORUS Xtreme, this SSDT should still work; its purpose is to render the Intel CNVi WiFi/BT module invisible to macOS. This in turn allows Broadcom WiFi/BT cards to function properly.

Hi,
im building your great system 2x this week for my 2 studio rooms ....

well i want to use that system just for music production and because of that i dont need an gfx card... i want to use the internal gfx with a 60 inch Monitor TV and for that i need 4K 60hz HDMI. Can the Z390 Gigabyte internal GFX handle that ? Or can it just 30hz at 4K ? If it cant do 60hz 4K which cheap Gfx Card should work then (out of the box even better :) ?

i have purchased all components - but i was not able to get the PCIe x1 adapter card for WiFi/BT module ... the links are not working anymore ... which one should i buy then ?

Anyway - im so thankful for this great guide :)))

Welcome to the forum!

The HDMI port on the Designare Z390 only supports HDMI 1.4, which means a maximum of 4K 30Hz. For 4K 60, I would recommend the AMD RX 570 or 580, both of which are available in 4GB and 8GB models. The 4GB models are more than sufficient. These cards have dropped considerably in price and are still very capable.

For WiFi/BT we recommend the Fenvi FV-T919. You can order it from eBay or AliExpress if it's not available from Amazon in your country.

Good luck with the build and should you need any assistance, just ask.
