Here you go. Please if you have a working system do not use this to boot, it probably won't work anyway. Just open side by side with yours and compare the settings you are interested in.

SMBIOS UID and stuff were removed to avoid serial number conflicts etc.

Using iMac19,1.
seems like you have done nothing to configure your iGPU. strange. do you have hardware acceleration without injecting platform id and device id??
i will try this.
 
@CaseySJ, I just upgraded from 10.15.2 to 10.15.3, and lost internal audio. HDMI and DisplayPort audio still work, but no internal audio using layout-ids 7, 11 & 16. Also updated to AppleALC 1.4.6, and still no internal audio. Help, pls!
Please check that there is only one copy of AppleALC.kext and then in Terminal type the following to determine whether it is being loaded:

After adding a 125ms sleep to most logging calls, it seems many more of the log messages now show up (in spoiler), but not all. For example "UPSB _PS0" is missing, but the method has been called.

Update:
  • After hot-plugging a TB3 device the system crashed (as expected, so not a big deal).
  • Then press physical Reset button with TB3 device connected.
  • After logging back in, we get these logs (big list) -- but no TNODE/TBUS or MUST().
  • This seems to suggest that ACPIDebug is causing timing or other random errors...
  • It also suggests that UPSB registers may not be set up correctly.

So what could be causing loss of internal audio?
 
Attempting to update EFI to clover 5103, clover walks through the whole process and then after package validation etc.... if pops up with an installation failed message. Looks like it is dieing right at the point where the new files would be written out. Anyone have any suggestions?
 
I would remove shiki-id and change shikigva to 80. But feel free to try other values as well:


Well after some fiddling around my results:
(Still on iMac19,1)

1. I renamed the cards and kept shikeva=80
No h264/hevc

2. Removed shikeva=80
Still no Accel

3. Removed shikeva=80
Enabled iGpu in BiOS-
Yet still booting from Vega 64

Though i still dont understand if I need Shikeva

Just curious, was it a bad board, or did you actually switch to a different model? E.G. Aorus Master to Designare.

I'm not 100% certain.
I WAS using a z390 Aorus ULTRA, and set it up following the guide.
I was seeing the CPU spike issue in macOS, but when I loaded DP in my windows install I did NOT see that same spike.
The dropout issue persisted across rebuilds, and between both Mojave and Catalina.

I was frustrated with trying to get it solved, saw that @CaseySJ was working on getting "more apple-like" thunderbolt support on the Designaire boards, and there just happened to be some Designaire boards at the local microcenter. So on a whim, I took the afternoon off of work, drove over and bought one.

I haven't had any dropout issues since.
