I got my r9 380 working OOB with DP and HDMI. I removed the Nvidia card after uninstalling the Web drivers. I got a KP on first boot though it kept booting (?) then made it to the desktop and showed as AMD R9 XXX 4096 MB.

Games work great and FCPX rendering times have been cut in half

#33

Thanks for the guide. I patched my r9-285 ,
everything works well, thanks for idea #Update 2.:thumbup::thumbup:

Tried El capitan 10.11 (15A284) with Enoch v2773. Same results.
Cannot boot with PCIe (R9 380) as primary in 10.11.

Now i have two options.
* Reverting back to Yosemite
* Live with black screen booting in El capitan (for now ???)
I chose to stay in El capitan (Clover).

Now my installation is fully vanilla.
1. Fakesmc and Ethernet kexts in EFI
2. For USB limitation, i use DSDT edit instead of FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext (see post#33 - Update 3)
3. For Wireless card, i use DSDT edit (manually edited DSDT, thanks to clover's 'Fix Airport')
4. For Trim support, i use clover's kexttopatch (Didn't use Trimforce)
5. HDMI audio (R9 380) using toleda's ssdt_hdmi-amd-default-PEG0 (HDMI & Display-port)

Expecting a solution soon.

Installed Mac OS Sierra. Tonga problems in El Capitan persist. Installation procedure is almost same as in El Capitan. Fully Vanilla.

full

Installation Notes:
  • Bios - CSM enabled, IGPU primary.
  • Clover - Use OsxAptioFix2Drv-64 driver.
  • Kexts used - FakeSMC, IntelMausiEthernet.
  • Installed with integrated graphics. Post install, changed cable to R9 380. No signal during booting.
  • Injected Lagotto framebuffer through SSDT (SaSsdt ). No framebuffer patch needed. But I have applied clover patch for DVI connectors (for fine tuning). Performance is similar to Radeon framebuffer.
  • DSDT edit for USB and TP-Link wireless card (TL-WN881ND), See Update-3 of post#33.
  • HDMI audio through SSDT edit. Didn’t enable ALC 1150 audio (for sake of vanilla).

Everything works fine except for ‘no signal’ during booting.

I've been following your thread for a long time but always too scared to give this a go.
Could you maybe post simpler instructions for someone who is totally new to this?

I've got a system quite similar to you.. (4670K, Maximus VI Hero, 7970).

@ asknask

7970 will work OOB according to this guide. Mine is Tonga (black screen issue). U will not have black screen problem with this graphics card. U needn't follow my installation procedure.
May be I can help u with config plist, DSDT, SSDT-1 if u wanna inject graphics through them. Also with DSDT edit for USB 3 if u want...

A great god My computer in the final phase on black screen Like a graphics driver error to help me in SSTD injection R9 380 FB and Skylake LPC patches and CPU frequency is 6500 please system version i5 CPU MAC OS 10.12.4

Installed macOS High Sierra Public Beta 2. Installation procedure same as Sierra & El Capitan (vanilla installation).
Lagotto and Radeon framebuffers didn’t work properly with AMD R9 380 in High Sierra. No display, only backlight on.
Greyhound framebuffer works after patching.
HDMI audio works. Graphics injection (both iGPU & dGPU) through SSDT.
See this post (Radeon Compatibility Guide) for more info.
