Try the following:
- Delete AppleHDA.kext and your current VoodooHDA.kext from /System/Library/Extensions
- Delete com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist and com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist from /Library/Preferences/Audio/
- Remove the following from org.chameleon.Boot.plist in your/Extra folder:
- <key>UseKernelCache</key>
- <string>Yes</string>
- Download and Install the attached kext (VoodooHDA for VT1828s.zip) to /System/Library/Extensions with Champlist.
- Repair permissions with Disk Utility and rebuild cache with Champlist.
- Reboot and you should be all set.

hd5770
4gig ram
setup as mac pro 5.1
did all you told me to with voodoo 2.7.2 it showed as no audio devices found.
tried voodoo 2.7.4 only showed hdmi as audio output
any idea's?
do you need any more info??
Bryan..
hmmm...
- OK let's try this
First install VoodooHDA 2.7.4 via MultiBeast so you have then right preference pane installed. Now start over with the previous instructions by deleting the kext (not the preference pane) and after Step #3, repair permissions with Disk Utility, rebuild caches with Champlist (Make sure you select the correct drive), then reboot. Now you should have no sound at all but still have the preference pane...
Continue with Step #4 but use the new attached kext...hope it works this time. Unfortunately this is going to be trial & error because I do not have the same Mobo as you although I have a similar one which uses VT1708S audio chipset.
