Try the following:

  1. Delete AppleHDA.kext and your current VoodooHDA.kext from /System/Library/Extensions
  2. Delete com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist and com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist from /Library/Preferences/Audio/
  3. Remove the following from org.chameleon.Boot.plist in your/Extra folder:
    • <key>UseKernelCache</key>
    • <string>Yes</string>
  4. Download and Install the attached kext (VoodooHDA for VT1828s.zip) to /System/Library/Extensions with Champlist.
  5. Repair permissions with Disk Utility and rebuild cache with Champlist.
  6. Reboot and you should be all set.

hi lexone, tried all what you said and no joy.
I will give you more details-
m/b asus p7p55d le. bios v2003
cpu i7 870 2.94ghz
hd5770
4gig ram

setup as mac pro 5.1

did all you told me to with voodoo 2.7.2 it showed as no audio devices found.
tried voodoo 2.7.4 only showed hdmi as audio output

any idea's?
do you need any more info??
Bryan..

hmmm...o_O

 - OK let's try this

First install VoodooHDA 2.7.4 via MultiBeast so you have then right preference pane installed. Now start over with the previous instructions by deleting the kext (not the preference pane) and after Step #3, repair permissions with Disk Utility, rebuild caches with Champlist (Make sure you select the correct drive), then reboot. Now you should have no sound at all but still have the preference pane...

Continue with Step #4 but use the new attached kext...hope it works this time. Unfortunately this is going to be trial & error because I do not have the same Mobo as you although I have a similar one which uses VT1708S audio chipset.
...let me know...

If all else fails, take a look at this post from Beezlebozo

Damn...:banghead:

OK maybe I made a mistake also in the directions. I told you to install v2.7.4 from MultiBeast but I meant to tell you to install v2.7.2 then erase the kext and replace with the v2 that I gave you in the last post since that is also a fixed v2.7.2 kext.

Did you also check the link to the post from Beezlebozo? His kexts are for v2.7.4 along with an AppleHDADisabler kext and I have attached them for you as well.

If all else fails, take a look at this post from Beezlebozo

Try my version again with what I told you to do before trying the ones from Beezlebozo. Please take screens shots and let me see what your sound pref pane and the voodoo pref pane show

Hi lexone, still no joy... followed everything you said, here are some screen shots to help,i hope...

Im not seeing the VoodooHDA.kext in the Extensions screen shot. Not sure why it is not working for you as others have reported this to be working. Again try installing the VoodooHDA.kext and take a screen shot of the /System/Library/Extensions folder so I can see all the files in that folder.

Good Guide!

hi again, here are screen shots you asked for

hi again, here are screen shots you asked for
OK thanks. I see that you installed v2.7.2 but with no luck still. Have you tried the v.2.7.4 VoodooHDA.kext that I gave you along with the AppleHDADisabler.kext from the post by Beezlebozo? If that doesn't work, I'm not sure what else to do for ya...

Are you using a DSDT for your specific Mobo & BIOS version? If so, what version is it? If not, that could be one of the reasons your audio is not working with the VoodooHDA kexts.

Take a shot of your /Extra folder.

If you are not using a DSDT file go here and download the correct one, rename it as DSDT.aml, place on the desktop and install it by selecting the UserDSDT option from MultiBeast. Repair permissions with Disk Utility and reboot. Then retry the VoodooHDA kext again.

Also, take a look at this post. Your same Mobo using VoodooHDA v2.7.4 and confirmed to be working. I have already given you the files from this download (VoodooHDA.kext & AppleHDADisabler.kext) in a previous post. The labels have also been colored so when you install them to /S/L/E they should remain with a label color. If you install these again...take a screen shot of your /S/L/E folder (arranged by name) showing these installed kexts.

Hi, any suggestions for getting this dsdt file working with a P7P55D PRO on 10.8.2?
