[solved] No sound on 10.8.4 even after HP ProBook Installer 6.1

I did a combo update on my HP 4530s from 10.8.2 to 10.8.4

I have tried HP ProBook Installer 6.1 with the 10.8.3 support kexts, and then again with the 10.8.4 support kexts. I have also run kext wizard each time to repair disk permissions and rebuild kext cache.

Still no sound. Are there some other kexts I should wipe out?

You need 10.8.4 support kexts. And correct DSDT patch. How did you originally install?

The 10.8.4 support kexts in your installer should be the correct ones (right?

As for the correct DSDT patch.. hmmm -- sandy bridge 2.30 GHz Intel Core i3-2350M

Read the sticky guide for instructions on generating DSDT, under "BIOS updates/hardware upgrades."

So what to look for in log files? I do get an error dialog for bluetooth audio speakers not working (I dont care about BT audio, actually).. could this be relevant?

Could be... you might take a look at SysPrefs -> Sound and see if your settings make sense.

Did you remove the existing DSDT at /Extra/dsdt.aml (and reboot) prior to attempting to regenerate DSDT via ProBook Installer?

OS X Support kexts + 4x30s + mountain lion + 10.8.4

DSDT gen + Probook + 4x30s

optional patch + Atheros 9285

ran kext wizard + disk perms + kext cache rebuild

rebooted

sound device not detected in sys prefs .. menu volume controller greyed out
