TA-DA! For anyone who does want this feature then i've found this.
Simple on/off click the icon in the menu bar and it does what it says in the tin!
There's also a switch in system preferences for it to automatically load on boot and whether you want it to sleep when the lid closes or not

I've now got a problem, due to windows not showing up on chimera i've had to repair the install which means it's overwritten chimera.
I've tried iBoot but it just runs in a restart loop and rBoot loads up with a black screen.
I've tried pointing it at the the org.chameleon.boot.plist in extra but it then boots with a grey screen.
Anyone know how I can boot in?
I did think of downloading the rBoot file, adding the graphics id to the boot.plist but I can't put it back into the .iso then ready for burning.

yes rBoot just boots up with a black screen.
I can hear skype start up and I can press the power button and enter to make it shut down so it's merely the fact the graphics device id is missing from the rBoot boot.plist

Ah right. You can boot with -s which opens a terminal.

Then you mount the hard drive with

/sbin/mount -uw /
then you can either copy an edited plist over, or using nano, edit the file.

Are you trying to boot on battery power?
Just to be sure that is not due to low brightness.

This sounds similar too a problem I ran into when trying InsomniaT. I got out of it by plugging in a monitor in Hdmi AND one in VGA, then pressing fn f4 after it was done booting. Disabled the InsomniaT and then it worked Ok.
