Thanks. In your opinion, is it worth getting the Pro (2-bit MLC) over the non-Plus (3-bit TLC)?

That really depends on what you need it for... I don't do anything that requires the higher sustained speeds of the Pro and I didn't want to spend the extra for the Pro. I felt that by the time I outgrow my 970 EVO, there will be newer and better for less money.

Thank you. I do indeed have the Plus version :/ Chose it over the normal version due to MLC instead of TLC and at about the same price, it also performs better. The obvious choice I suppose, until one realises this detail about the Plus version not working with Mojave.

The supplier is out of stock on the normal version. My only other option at this point is the 970 Pro, albeit 30% more expensive. Do you know whether the 970 Pro has been confirmed to work?
I posted this very thing just above your post... Read! ;)

Thought I'd share some feedback regarding my results. Having swapped the Samsung 970 EVO Plus for the 970 Pro, macOS Mojave installs and runs without error.

It is a pity that the Plus cannot be used with macOS, since it costs significantly less than the Pro and is capable of much higher write speeds.

I've attached screenshots of disk speed tests using both drives in Windows, where the Plus functioned well. Also attached are screenshots of disk speed tests in Mojave, where the performance degradation of the Plus is clearly reflected.

Even though more expensive and unnecessary for consumer workstation use, it is worth noting that the Pro does have the 2-bit MLC advantage.

Im having a ton of trouble with this drive (970 evo 500gb). Every time ive tried to erase it in disk utility it freezes my system after a few seconds. Same happens if i try carbon copy cloner, i hit copy it starts, gets about halfway through and freezes or reboots at Library/PrivateFrameworks/data...ers.plugin/versions/a/rec...Dont know if it has something to do with the new mojave update? im on 10.14.3 and running a ssd but wanted to upgrade to this. anybody have any thoughts?

Hi,

I also have the EVO 970 Plus. I spent some time trying to install Mojave on it. No success.
When running Disk Utilities to erase the EVO 970 Plus, it gets stuck at "Delete Volume" step.
And finally freezes the complete computer.

I seem to remember that my first attempt to use it was OK. I could copy files on it but had some panic error at a later stage, and had to do the job again, using different clover config.
Subsequent attempts did not work at all, as described.

May be linked to APS ?

It's the Plus version that's the problem. I'm not sure why it wont work, but I realized I had bought the Plus version not just the 970. I returned it and have had no problems whatsoever with the 970 EVO.

What about Mojave fresh install directly on 970 Pro without cloning disk?
