Hi, everyone.
I using Sapphire Nitro+ RX580 for High Sierra.
Actually everything is working fine with RX580 card.

But it sometimes turning to screen freeze.
(*Refer to the attachment)

After the screen freeze, mouse is able to move.
So, I restart it. It works fine again.

This screen freeze issue has been happened many times.
I have no idea what is this problem for this Nitro+ RX580 GPU.

Anyone has this kind of issue ?
And how to solve this problem?
Please help.

Hi there.

I have experienced this previously with an RX560 GPU too. In my case the problem was faulty video-memory on the graphics card.

Because not all of the video memory is used all of the time, the problem may or may not appear during a session.

I hope this is not the case for you.

I learned to live with it as the problem was unpredictable and sometimes might not happen, or when it did might occur two or three times in a row.

@UtterDisbelief
Your screen freeze caused by RX560 video memory of the GPU !
How did you solve it?
Any solutions?

I still not yet find the solutions.
The screen freeze still happen, but not always.

Looking for someone who share the solutions.

if there is a fault on the card, then there is probably nothing you can do

Other than replace the card with one that doesn't have faulty VRAM.

This type of Hardware error is not something you can 'fix' with a kext or patch.

yup! :)

Did you use any pcie extention cable? I used to have same freeze problem, since I remove the pcie extention cable, everything works fine

@lysoul
No any PCIE extension cable in my hack. But my monitor build in audio/speaker, so I use HDMI for the display and audio.

It’s weird today, I used it the whole day. And it was working fine for the rx580.

When the screen freeze, normally cause by clicking program or web browser.

What else can I test? Have no idea.
If there is nothing I can do.

Can suggest a stable GPU that native for Monterey and Ventura?

I used to have this too with my aging RX480 card every once in a while(maybe every month or so). Haven't seen the problem with my newer Vega 56.
