<< Solved >> RX580 GPU got Screen Freeze

Using a DisplayPort connector and cable is always the better option when running macOS. I would never recommend that anyone swap a DisplayPort connection for a HDMI connection.

The other is Display Port, but I am too lazy to change it. Nothing to worry about!
Your GPU RX580 plugged with DisplayPort cable works fine all day long.
But using HDMI cable will give you freeze screen for any 2 second.

So, That's the problem of HDMI cable for RX580.
Correct?

So, do you think that using the HDMI cable caused the RX580 having freeze screen issue?

Perhaps, the displayPort connector will give fully stable?

Possibly, all depends on if the HDMI connector/cable, or the VRAM are causing the issue.

If the VRAM is causing the issue then switching to DisplayPort won’t make a difference.

Correct?

Yes, using two monitors... one with hdmi and one with displayport

One day I will change the cable and comment.

Await for your result after changing the HTMI cable to DisplayPort connector.
I wish the RX580 GPU make the screen freeze is caused by the HDMI cable issue.

Hope to see your reply.

The problem, is not something usual. So it would take a time to see, cos' the glitch is totally random, and I can't say the frecuency, but nothing disturbing.

Will update

@guindillas
Yes. Understand.
This screen freeze caused by GPU is very random, sometimes more than 3 times.
Perhaps, it caused by a kext or the monitor has build-in something?

My problem, when u clicked the browser or anything fast, it'll freeze.
My monitor has a build-in speaker, brand is Dell.

Really have no idea about this condition.
Anyone has facing this same issue?
Please welcome to discuss and share and help each other.

try a different video card and see what happens

Hi,

As I mentioned previously, and the guys have agreed, this problem is highly indicative of faulty VRAM. Those screen patterns nail it for me. I've seen exactly the same.

Being cautious - because I have no hands-on with your hardware, I had to offer advice with the possibility I was missing something. For example the VRAM not actually being faulty but it might just be overheating.

Sadly what you have posted since only seems to confirm the faulty memory diagnosis. Either swap the card or live with the lock-ups and reboots.

Sorry.
@UtterDisbelief
I have been using and testing it with the GPU - why the screen will freeze?

Still not sure 100% caused by the VRAM, maybe it’s about the cable.

I can’t share the final solutions as it will only freeze by random. Really sad.

How was you solved your problem?
You changed the graphic card?
