Comments

The hardware was purchased through Amazon, with some of the design concepts from Marques Brownlee (Youtube). Installing all of the hardware, then using Unibest 2.x and Multibeast 5.x, the system booted immediately. I did try to save a few $$ and not use the external graphics card. However, that costs me numerous reboots with negative results. With all of the components, it booted smoothly. After a good boot, I over-clocked to 4.5 GHZ with no errors. I wanted a quiet build, and this Hack build fills the bill. I need to look at it or move the mouse to confirm it is on.

The Multibeast specs only included:
"UserDSDT or DSDT-Free Installation"
Audio - ALC898 (Realtek w/o DSDT)
Customization - Boot Options - GraphicsEnabled = No
Network - Atheros
....nothing else!!!

I was never able to get RADI 0 working, but if I do, I will update this in the future.

Thanks to all of the previous posts that allowed me to educate myself.

Post some benches at 4.5ghz!

Quiet Hackintosh - screenshots of system and GeekBench

The following screen shots show the system preferences of the new build. The GeekBench score of 15,421 appears to be the norm on this build.

Still working on RAID 0 and changing the "About This Mac" screen. I know that I can change the image, but it still shows 3.5Ghz, not the over clock of 4.4 Ghz.

Hope this helps!

Update as of 1/1/2014 - I added images to my album: http://www.tonymacx86.com/members/php4u/albums/quiet-hackintosh/

Dschijn,

All I can hear is a fait low whirring noise from the case, which sits 10" below my desk to my left. With the TV or radio on, I cannot hear it. With the ceiling fan on i cannot hear the case. I have not put a heavy load on it yet.

Hope this helps.

Just a note, the uploaded pics are too small to read.

Uploading your pictures to your Profile's Album(s) will allow you to reference them in full size for easier reading. However, I recommend you reduce them in size to <1024 pixels wide and 100 dpi for shorter loading and make your album public.
