Article: OS X 10.9.1 Update

Hi,
Since my custom mac runs so smoothly I forgot to follow the steps and just installed the update. The problem is that after installation I have no audio, whatever I try. I repaired disk permissions, used muliti beast etc. without any result.

My question is, should I, to solve the problem, install Mavericks again and then follow the steps as described in this post? Even restore to the previous version?
Thanks for your advise.

Here's the step by step way to update:
:ch: Repair Permissions using the Disk Utility on the drive to be updated;*
:ch: Backup your current installation using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper;
:ch: Use the Software Update to download and install 10.9.1;
:ch: Re-boot;
:ch: Run MultiBeast v6.01+ and just select your audio driver to install;
:ch: Re-boot; and
:ch: Repair Permissions again.

If you have TRIM enabled, it is unaffected by this update. :thumbup:

* You can use the Terminal instead of Disk Utility if you feel comfortable with a UNIX command:
Code:
sudo diskutil repairPermissions /

When I try to install using the standalone update. I get the error message: "this software not supported on your system". Anyone else get this. I am going to try the install through the app store, but even if that works this is a bit worrying.

So you can just update right from the app store or do you have to go through the b.s. of making the usb stick and installing that way??

Got the same message. Turns out that what has happened is that your Apple store preferences is set to automatically check for, and download updates from the Apple Store. So, the OS did what it was told to do resulting in a flag being set somewhere (perhaps in the installer preferences) that indicated you have downloaded the 10.9.1 update and your system is awaiting reboot (or something to that effect).

Haven't figured out where that flag is or how to remove it, but the solution is simple. Go ahead and install the update via the Apple store. After reboot, replace the audio kext just as you would from the standalone installer.

What was your score before updating?

Updated my Hackintosh X79s UP5 i73930 to Mavericks 10.9.1.
Very easy install this one.
Just replaced the audio drivers and reboot.
After that the Hack had a real-world speed bump, and now the score on geekbench is more than 23000.

Just go for it.
It's rock stable.

Cheers.

Hi all,

As mentioned in my previous post, I installed the 9.1 update without the instructions by Stork as posted at p. 1 of this thread (repair permissions etc.). It resulted in the loss of audio.
For those with similar problems, this is how I solved my problem.

I downloaded from the app store Mavericks (now OS X 9.1)
I prepared my USB according to the instructions you can find on this site, added Unibeast and the latest version of Multibeast.
After installation was successful, I followed the steps mentioned at the beginning of this thread (p.1).
Problem solved: I have audio.

Good luck.

Hello, I just found that the above link is wrong, it is for the Mac Pro, the latest one. This is the correct link http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1715. Please let me know if it suggested to use the Mac Pro update, and in-turn I would be wrong.
