Hey guys. After having tons of issues with Nvidia on 10.13.5 I was wondering if I should switch to AMD. When I load heavy projects my computer starts to make funny glitches like making some parts of the application UI black or messing up the screen on some areas where it appears glitched. Also, in Blender, a certain OpenGL shaders doesn't look right. Even tho I got in touch with Nvidia regarding that issue, is AMD perfect or does it also have some kind of issues like what I just explained?

As I said everything works as expected initially but I get some errors with heavy scenes.

Update to 10.13.5 and the latest Nvidia driver. Your problems will go away.

My bad I meant to type 10.13.5 I did update for that very reason and I still get similar issues. Not sure if this is because Nvidia is not developing proper drivers for OSX or if because we are using hackintoshes. Was it happening to you and its not anymore?

It was happening to me on my GTX 1060 but now the latest driver doesn't have those problems, and I've since acquired a GTX 1080 FE which doesn't have any problems.

So, you still have the problems with the latest 10.13.5 drivers?

Maybe they are more focused onto that range. I have issues with my GTX 980 Ti since a while back. It's not becoming an issue with smaller projects but as soon as something uses a lot of Vram I get artifacts and glitches. Maybe I should consider buying a 1080 card.

Well, if you're going to spend money on a new graphics card...first, consider that we're at the end of the latest AMD & Nvidia model year - new cards by the end of July.

I'm using a Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8GB card on MyHero II build. It works great OOB. @pastrychef has an AMD Vega (64?) graphics card, and it has some fan problems, but I'll let him talk about that.

The good news is that current model graphics cards are returning to reasonable purchase costs now that the crypto miners are over there dominance in the graphics card marketplace.

Good luck!

That's true I have to wait until prices drop when the new models get released. I was thinking of the Titan V too. Instead of buying 1080 x2. Not entirely sure what would make the most sense. the V would still be way more expensive but if performance is like 4 times the 1080 it might be worthy but I think it won't be over twice as poweful. This is for professional use and not for gaming even tho I could play once a year or so.

Actually, two weeks ago the Nvidia CEO when asked about when new Geforce GPUs will launch, replied: "It’s a long time from now."...
