Hi guys,

I thought I would give it a crack creating my own hackintosh..

I have the following components

Gigabyte GA Z68MX-UD2H-B3
Intel Core i3/2130
4 GB kingston 1300mhz DDR3
Samsung CDCVDW SH222BB DVD RW
Asus AMD Radeon HD 6670
ADATA 120GB S510 SSD - 2.5" SATA-III
USB Non apple wired mouse and keyboard

i am getting a variety of errors..

sometimes i get part way into the install process and then it stops responding..
others it stops responding as I am erasing the hard disk from the intall tools
however mainly i am getting issues when using iboot..

i keep getting cdboot bios disk read error at sector 00002e45 [or 00000011]
I occasionally get other messages but so far i am unable to even install Snow Leopard

I have tried swapping the sata leads around and using different sata channels for the SSD, I have also tried a standard sata disk drive
I have tried different sata leads between the drives and also the cd rom
I have tried two different graphics cards, and even the onboard graphics.
The 4GB rmemory has been tried in different memory ports
I dont have any other devices plugged in aside the above

I have followed the below guide letter by letter but still no joy.

can ANYONE help at all??

this is the first time i have ever tried to build a hackintosh and I really want to get it going.. i just need a basic step by step guide to get the thing installed for my particular setup if anyone has any thoughts?

If you are using OSX 10.6.X then you issues could be related to that SSD.

if you have a normal HD under 1 TB then I suggest you do your first build w just that HD. - 1 TB HD have issues if they are advanced fomat enabled or 4k sectoring w how we install the bootloader.

Also you need to use only the 4 intel ports on this motherboard - check your documentation. DVD drive as SATA port 4 HD at SATA port 1

Also moving ram around is not good for doing the hack - again check you doc and insert only 1 ram dimm in the propper slot.

If you have not installed an os on this MB then I suggest setting one drive up for W7 or Vista to confirm that the hardware works.

You didnt state what OS you were using - if you have a mac or know of one you can use then I suggest you setup for a 10.7.x install and not 10.6.7/8: Or if your intention is to get to 10.7 via the apple upgrade process you can stop at OSX 10.6.6 - if the CPU will let you
That isssue is the Sandy Bridge CPU's were not supported until 10.6.8 -
I also suggest you look on google and the forums for you MB # and OSX 10.6 to see if other have had luck.
Also when you have screen halts and you will - use a camera and post the pics of the halts or KP (kernel panic).
You will need a usb keyboard and mouse - you may also need a PS2 keyboard for startup.
If you are to go to OSX10.7 you will need a 8gb usb drive.
If you are going to OSX 10.7 you should post a new issue in the 10.7 Destop area you are in the Desktop 10.6 area.

If you are unfamiliar w the internal workings of the Mackintosh world, I found the following

websites and videos very be helpful.

How are you creating iBoot? I had a lot of issues and was getting no where fast and it was like my DVD drive wasn't reading iBoot. I discovered I need to create my iBoot with disk utility and once I did that I was able to install 10.6. My board is GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 and my cpu is i5 2500k so our builds are simular. Do yourself a favor get on utube and stuff by Dean Wray UK, I learned so much from his videos and I'm going back for me. Hope this helps.

You need to have a ISO mounter and burn it to a CD - I did mine on a PC w W7 - the seperate drive-
Yes We are somewhat similar but I dont have a Sandy / Ivy Bridge CPU so I am not faced w issues related to these CPU's

You stated you were able to install 10.6.3 what about the other needed utilitied to get 10.6.8 to install.

ALso see this link for a good description of how he did an install on a similar MB.

Use for all Intel sandy or ivy bridge motherboards as startup - you may need to add this coot switch at the command line.
