Ever since updating using the MultiBeast 7.4 Update, I'll have sound when I first boot up or reboot, but over time it forgets how to play any sound. Simply putting the Hackintosh to sleep doesn’t seem to cause a problem.

  1. My motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA-Z77-DS3H LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard Version 1.1, firmware version F9
  2. I have two CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) for a total of 16GB
  3. My graphics board is an ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support V
  4. I have an Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz processor
  5. I’m running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.4

This is my configuration:

Any help is appreciated. I could just restart my computer every X hours, but I really shouldn't have to be doing that, should I?

I tried updating it for about the 7th time, and it seems to be working now. It may have been caused by a faulty slice in a RAID array.

I'll keep an eye on it, and keep you posted.

Nope, only the YouTube video that I'd opened up and paused for several hours played the audio. Everything else is silent until I reboot. :banghead:

I've got the same problem with a GA-Z87X-OC Force. It uses the ALC898. First boot usually has no sound, reboot usually has sound, but only usually. 7.3 had the same problem. I think it might be more related to 10.10.4. I didn't notice the problem until then.

Is anyone noticing this? Besides ewinemiller and myself, has no one else had this problem?

Also, I continue to have (presumably) my motherboard GIGABYTE GA-Z77-DS3H v1.1 firmware F9 freeze up, usually when playing audio, so that whatever's playing starts repeating like a scratched record. By itself, that'd be annoying, except that I'm on my 6th hard drive because of the disk corruption that it causes.

I've posted that issue here, I've scoured ******/Stack Exchange/everywhere I can think of, I've updated my BIOS, I've changed BIOS settings, and yet it continues to happen.
:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Are both these two things somehow related, since they seem to both deal with audio?
