So after doing these steps...it doesn't work...I'm sure it should but it doesn't...so either Im doing something wrong or there is extra stuff in the S/L/E - kexts area.that is preventing it from working right....
Useless post, nothing attached. Your response shows you did not read Post #1 of this thread. The link purposely sends you to Post #1. See III. Audio Problem Solving. If you still can't solve your audio problem, see IV. Problem Reporting. Compare the information you provided above with the information required for problem solving.

By the way, there is no effect between audio and power management (P & C states). If audio works, it works with or without PM.

Well It's going to be a while my system does not boot anymore have no idea what it's going on probably have to reinstall

I have been using TOnyMac since the early years and this is my first major hiccup. I am hoping somebody with fresh eyes has an idea about my no audio issue.

No audio devices except for Airplay)
I have had working audio using DSDT for the past year or so and botched an upgrade from 10.8.3 to 10.8.4 and forgot how I had the audio setup. It used to be DSDT but I was in a hurry and kludged up a voodoo kext temporary for a week. Then I lost audio and decided to fix it all and do it properly.
Now that I had time to do the dsdt edit (01 00 00 00 00) I am not able to see any audio devices. I am totally perplexed. I have no HDAInjector, verified I have a ALC885/ALC889a codec and installed via MB more times than I can count.

Airplay is the only thing that shows up in the device list. The computer I can airplay to does play the sounds. I want standard audio not HDMI audio.

I feel like my only course of action now is to reinstall ML, but I'm not a huge fan of this option unless I REALLY have to.

Sorry to bug you with this Toleda. I'm betting that replying to 50 pages of people with issues is not your idea of fun.

It does not look like AppleHDA,kext is installed properly (no pinconfigs). Attach the installed S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext.

I ended up installing the voodoo kext an hour ago and they worked. (oddly enough they didn't work the 4 times I tried yesterday)

Thanks for your help, but I'll let it ride with Voodoo until the next Apple update. :)

Sorry for posting this in another thread.. Tried to delete my other one when I noticed this. I've come to realize that to the best of my knowledge, I installed the correct drivers from multibeast 5.4.3 for my ML system with GA-77X-UP5 TH motherboard (ALC898 + Optional 3 port). I feel like there must be a kext either missing or something is redundant and blocking these kexts from working. Either way, I don't see audio output options in my sound prefs nor.

Currently HDA related kexts in my folder are -
AppleHDA.kext
AppleHIDKeyboard.kext
HDAEnabler1.kext
HDAEnabler2.kext

I accidentally installed voodoohd but got rid of any files related to that. The answer may lie somewhere in there. Out of desperation I've uploaded a screengrab page of all current kexts in my extensions folder (figured someone might know what to look for). Any help is appreciated!

For future reference, the is one slection that will enable audio on your motherboard. Anything else will ensure audio failure. The selection is:
MultiBeast 5.3 or newer - Select-Drivers & Bootloaders-Drivers-Audio-Realtek ALC8xx-Without DSDT √ALC898.
Do not make any other selections in MultiBeast Audio.

Remove the following S/L/E/kexts:
AppleHDADisabler.kext
AppleHDA.kext
HDAEnabler1.kext
HDAEnabler2.kext

Run MultiBeat with the selection noted above. If audio does not work, there is something else. Post after you done clean install and installed audio.

Gdamn.. I had a feeling that disabler file was bad news.. I kept deleting the other ones over and over. Guess thats part of the learning curve. Thanks, it works!

Hi there,
I used to have sound (ALC892) but now my audio is gone.
I tried to follow your guide:

In IOReg I found HDEF, but I didn't find IOHDACodecDevice.
(I deleted AppleHDA and HDAenabler from S/L/E and installed ALC892 without DSDT with multi beast 5.4.3, fixed permissions and all and restarted)
What is going on? Can anybody help me with this?
