Does anyone have Problems since 10.13.2 with GenericUSBXHCI.kext? Since the Update, my Renesas uPD720200 (Vendor: 1033, Device 0194, Sub Vendor 8086, Sub Dev 4953) always causes a crash on shutdown with the GenericUSBXHCI.kext and also with the mXHCD.kext from this thread. It worked til 10.13.1. Is there a better solution?
My Board: X9Dai, E5-2670v1

Here parts of the crash report:

By the way, I tried the reflashing with the following Subvendor/Subdevice IDs:
Sonnet/Oyen and High Sierra 10.13.2
With Sonnet, nothing worked.
With Oyen, it worked, but had the same crashes on shutdown and disconnecting of devices as with the GenericUSBXHCI.kext

I've tried bot GenericUSBXHCI.kext and Oyen drivers and even though they both apparently work for usb they also cause weird shutdown and sleep issues. What's next?

Any special steps for the Startech (PCIUSB3S4) version of the Renesas/NEC µPD720202 (Startech Spec Page) card?

Hello! I hope my experience of installing and using USB 3.0 ExpressCard / 34 (USB3-2PM-E34 - Nec / Renesas UPD720201 / 202) with OS Mojave 10.14 on MacBook Pro 4.1 (2008 Early) will help someone save time and nerves. ExpressCard / 34 was purchased through an intermediary (second seller) for $ 10.00. In the complete set there was only a disk with drivers for Windows OS. At once I will say that I am an ordinary user and do not have any skills of the programmer, nor any deep knowledge in the field of operating systems. I tried everything and even had to reinstall the system several times (with Clover, I definitely will not deal anymore ... with my knowledge). In the end, everything turned out to be quite simple, but with nuances:
1. Uploaded the file with the last kext (GenericUSBXHCI.kext);
https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-generic-usb3/downloads/
2. Installed it installer kext (Kext Utility - I guess the application can be anything);
http://cvad-mac.narod.ru/index/0-4
3. Restarted the system (miracle did not happen);
4. Opened the standard Utility Disk and launched the First help for the disk.

ExpressCard with two USB 3.0 ports works :)

P.S. I apologize in advance for translating the text into English. Do not judge strictly ;)

ExpressCard with two USB 3.0 ports works :)

I can confirm this, I have the exact same el-cheapo card and just installing the Rehabman kext made the plugged in flash drives discoverable on MacOS Mojave 10.14 18A391. Didn't even have to reboot, although I did put the card in and remove it a few times. Don't have a speedy usb3 device to test the speeds though...

edit. Well, the results aren't that great with a Kingston 32GB USB3.0 stick. I copied a ~5GB file (5355102208 bytes to be exact) from the usb drive to a mechanical hard drive and then back, three times in a row.

With the native usb2.0 port:

Code:
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/HDD\ 750/Windows\ XP/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/32gb/

real 2m55.173s
user 0m0.019s
sys 0m8.535s

Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/HDD\ 750/Windows\ XP/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/32gb/

real 2m56.825s
user 0m0.019s
sys 0m8.992s

Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/HDD\ 750/Windows\ XP/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/32gb/

real 2m59.398s
user 0m0.020s
sys 0m9.978s

Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/32gb/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/HDD\ 750/

real 2m14.605s
user 0m0.019s
sys 0m7.689s
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/32gb/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/HDD\ 750/

Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/32gb/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/HDD\ 750/

real 2m15.197s
user 0m0.018s
sys 0m8.229s
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$

And with the USB 3.0 card:

Code:
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/HDD\ 750/Windows\ XP/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/32gb/

real 2m56.267s
user 0m0.016s
sys 0m8.475s
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/HDD\ 750/Windows\ XP/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/32gb/

real 2m59.758s
user 0m0.017s
sys 0m8.972s
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/HDD\ 750/Windows\ XP/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/32gb/

real 3m0.268s
user 0m0.016s
sys 0m9.261s
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/32gb/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/HDD\ 750/

real 2m11.200s
user 0m0.015s
sys 0m7.832s
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/32gb/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/HDD\ 750/

real 2m11.618s
user 0m0.016s
sys 0m7.985s
Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$ time cp /Volumes/32gb/Windows\ XP.vdi /Volumes/HDD\ 750/

real 2m15.816s
user 0m0.018s
sys 0m9.449s

Juha-Mattis-MacBook-Pro:~ juha-matti$

So as you can see, no difference whatsoever. I remember getting close to 70MB/s read speeds with the same stick on a Windows machine.. This card belongs in the bin.

I confirm also that Fantazer3's way works like a charm !!Although speed in both ports seems reduced got two 3.0 usb out of nothing. Thank you man!

Have a uPD720202 on 10.13.6
Try Sonnet ID and CalDigit ID without any luck.
Device shown (usb-flash and usb3.0 portable hdd) but won't mount.
Sonnet USB 3.0 Driver (Mac) 1.0.9b1 and Fantazer3 method won't work for me.
