Did you try my version at: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller

I don't know if it works on the u410, but if you haven't tried and you have Synaptics, it might be worth a shot
(I'm just not keeping track of what laptops it is working on or not...)

One thought.. Three finger swipe from top to bottom shows the desktop, but swipe from bottom to top does nothing. Is there a way to configure this? The Trackpad icon in Preferences cannot configure the gestures.

System Prefs -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts

The list of official cards is:
• 612BNXHMW
• 2200BNHMW
• BCM94313HMGB
• BCM94313HMG2L
• AR5B95
• AR5B195

However, I did find this thread http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-REQUEST-Lenovo-IdeaPad-U410-Whitelist-removal-request-65CN13WW seems to be promising regarding a white/blacklist free bios.

Nice, found one that has a kext but it is HP.. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-Athero...opAccessories_PCMCIACards&hash=item2326c90f60). Would this work in the laptop? Sorry for noob question ;)

That is for keyboard shortcuts, but I can't see anything related to the trackpad there..

Exactly. 3-finger-gestures in this trackpad driver simulate keystrokes.

From the README.md:
"Integrated valko three-finger gesture code (with tweaks). These 3-finger gestures are as follows: swipe left: sends keyboard Command+[ swipe right: sends keyboard Command+] swipe up: sends keyboard F9 swipe down: sends keyboard F10"

Genius. Thanks

Note that when you are configuring the assignments in the keyboard prefs, you can use the trackpad gestures to "type" the desired keystroke... no need to use the keyboard. As far as OS X knows, you're hitting those keys...

Good to know.. I had to use a real mac keyboard to type fn+F9 (F10 etc) to key the values because the laptop keyboard doesn't detect the F keys idk why

You might have to change the keyboard mappings for your laptop. See the wiki for that: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-Voodoo-PS2-Controller/wiki/How-to-Use-Custom-Keyboard-Mapping

And realize that we have remapped they keyboard so that function keys (F1-F12) are Fn+fkeys, and the normal function keys F1-F12 (without Fn) do media/OSX functions (volume up/down, brightness up/down, itunes pause/play, etc.). Like a real Mac. You can undo that as well, if you don't like it... same article referenced above.
