Issue with the USB 3.0 chip (renesas)

So it sounds like those of us with NEC ports need to wait for someone to figure out how to modify the LaCie drivers?

after a few days using the NEC PCIe USB 3.0 card with CalDigit driver from MB 5.0.2, I found that the driver is a bit unstable. Sometimes.it works without any problems and sometimes after ejecting the disk and change to other drive, the drive can't be detected and mounted. Just now it just went into USB 2.0 mode.

Only one thing left to try is to use the ML DP3 kexts with PXHD driver.

Edited out....sorry!

There is a more recent version (1.0.9) of the LaCie driver for Renesas 720200 available than the one found in MB 4 (v1.0.8).

You can get it here:
http://www.lacie.com/more/index.htm?id=10112

Seems to detect both USB 3.0 controllers of my GA-P67-UD4-B3 using Mountain Lion. Other issues like with the CalDigit driver (disappearing USB devices, no VMware Fusion compatibility) did not show up for me. Also I found no console error messages.

The downside: It works with LaCie external USB drives only. The older version from MB 4 was patched to not deny USB devices from other manufacturers.

To sum it up: Someone needs to patch the new 1.0.9 driver from LaCie. This will enable the Renesas controller found on many LGA1155 boards and expansion cards.

Hi!
You can try the "attached" file (I've patched the 1.0.9 kext with the old Modbin solution). It should work without issue on Lion, but in Mountain Lion maybe you have to change IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext with an old version (file in attached).
If you have some issue with USB audio device, you could install also the old version of AppleUSBAudio.kext (also in attached).
I have not tested it!

OK, I have tested it.
On my ML Hackintosh, works with a WD Passport USB 3.0. But PXCHD.kext in S/L/E is not sufficient. You need to overwrite IOUSBFamily.kex, IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext and AppleUSBAudio.kext with the old version uploaded on MediaFire.
Use Kext Utility and Reboot.

Yes, it's true. It works with my WD USB3 hard disk, but if the computer sleeps, it crashes or at least the HD doesn't works anymore until I reboot.

This issue is known also with the old LaCie Driver. :(

Thank You lollo78! Your drivers are working for me at USB2 speeds (~480 MBps) while real USB2 ports run at about 240MBps.... This numbers are on par with my Lion speeds so while I have no real USB3 speeds, I couldn't be happier ;)

Mountain Lion (10.8.0), GA-X58A-UD3R with NEC USB3 chip.

After screwing up my disk permission really badly and sorted it out, I gave another chance of using thelostswede's CalDigit driver on ML 10.8.1. I did not rollback any kexts except installing those CalDigit drivers ( https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BzQ2OlT-O7tbNnhsdTJrOEFYcmM ). So far so good. I can mount & unmount, swap HDDs and the driver seems to be stable. I in fact put my ML to sleep but must eject the HDD first, wake it and mount it again and still get the USB3 speed.
