I do have windows 8.1 Dell laptop. I want to install OS X ( Mavericks or Yosemite) in it and dual boot with existing windows.
Here are my specs:
-Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600)
-System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
-System Model: Inspiron 3542
-Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz (4 CPUs), ~1.7GHz
-Memory: 4096MB RAM
Display:
-Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
-Display Memory: 1792 MB
-Current Mode: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Render:
-Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 820M
-Manufacturer: NVIDIA
-Chip type: GeForce 820M
-DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC
-Display Memory: 3996 MB

I do have 1TB HDD.
I have BIOS (legacy)mode.
I dont have UEFI boot mode.
Secure boot and fast boot turned off.

I want to ask will my laptop be able to run any OS X? If yes, then will you provide me proper guide to do so. If not, then what should I do in order to use OS X? I really want to experience and use OS X.

Thanks in advance. :)

Note: Your laptop definitely has UEFI. Make sure you have current BIOS.
