I'm an artist/producer using Pro Tools 10. For pretty much as long as I can remember, my hackintosh has had a problem with Pro Tools CPU usage, it throttles back in forth constantly. Could be 20% one second then 80 the next. As a result, I have to run extremely light sessions or constantly deactivate tracks. Obviously, this complete negates the reason I built a hackintosh in the first place.
Of the course of a couple years I hired two different "experts" to try and fix it. We have switched multiple OS's (Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks). We have replaced the RAM, CPU, Graphics Card, and now finally the motherboard. After switching mobo's the CPU throttling issue went away. But after shutting down the computer one time and turning it back on, it's here to stay again. I have other friends with hackintoshes of very similar build that have all the same plugins as me, we installed off the same external, with no problems.
Also, this problem seems to be pretty exclusive to Pro Tools. The computer runs other programs like Adobe Premier just fine. Any suggestions whatsoever would be appreciated.
