How To Install OS X Yosemite Using Clover

Your answer was ok but doesn't allow us to boot with no kext-dev-mode=1 argument.
Where the kext are installed has nothing to do with "kext-dev-mode=1"... What are you trying to accomplish, are you saying you don't want to put kext-dev-mode=1 in the Boot section of your config.list?

Could you please take 2 minutes of your time and reread this post and you would see what I'm talking about, the kext are put in /EFI/EFI/Clover/kexts/10.10
I assume you're referring to this:

Notice this refers to creating a Clover installer...

I guess I'm still missing your point yet no need to do this dance any longer, put your kexts where you like. The simple fact is that my original response is correct, they belong in S/L/E...

I followed this guide to a T, and after selecting "Boot OS X Install from OS X Install OS X Yosemite" from the Clover boot manager I see the white Apple logo and progress bar (on black background) as it loads the installer. However, after the progress bar gets about 1/3 of the way done my system just reboots. Any ideas as to why this might occur? I've made sure to use a USB 2.0 port on the motherboard in case USB 3.0 would cause any issues.

My build is an Intel DH77DF motherboard, i7-3770S CPU, Nvidia GT 750 GPU, 1TB Samsung mSATA. I used the sample Nvidia config.plist provided in the first post and edited it as per the second post. Is there a log file or anything to see what might have caused this odd behavior? I didn't see anything dumped onto the USB install stick.

UPDATE: I believe using the kernel switch 'nv_disable=1' does the trick

Hi clover works great for me! I just have one issue. Clover will not load my ssdt. I have placed it into the correct directory

EFI/Clover/ACPI/Patched/

I have no idea why clover will not load the ssdt, toleda has already confirmed that the ssdt itself is correct. any ideas?

I just built my hackintosh (Z97-A, i7-4790k, GT740).

I used tonymacx86's Unibeast/Multibeast guide here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...-x-yosemite-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

Everything is working great except iMessage. The iMessage guide http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-help/110471-how-fix-imessage.html says 2 things:
1) Use a System Info comparable to your hardware
2) Use Clover

Question 1: Do I need to change my System Info from a MacPro3,1 to an iMac15,1?

Question 2: For migrating to Clover can I just do Steps 2, Steps 3 (12,13,14 only) and Steps 4 of this guide (ie. using the existing install I have already)?

I was wondering the same thing. Was trying to work out how much of a hassle it would be to convert my Multibeast/Chameleon setup to use Clover. (and we have the same Mobo and cpu, I built my hack about a month ago)

can i update Yosemite through App Store? i have legacy bios motherboard

any one was able to install Using Clover on Motherboard
ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 ????

@ GsGs1402

I had little trouble installing OS X Yosemite on my ASUS Z97-A board using unibeast/chimera/multibeast (ASUS owns ASRock so imagine things should be similar). However, when I tried "upgrading" to Clover, I had a TON of trouble. I could boot to the UEFI USB, but then when the install started I would get a black background screen with a white apple and a progress bar that never moved. After 2 days of work I was able to get a solid, stable OS X Yosemite that boots UEFI with Clover. Here is what I had to do:

1) Install 10.10.1 (or I guess now 10.10.2) using the Unibeast Install guide here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...-x-yosemite-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html
1a) I had to make some slight modifications to the above guide to get everything installed fine on my ASUS board. Check the "comments" section of my build. Specifically, on the Chimera boot screen I had to type "-x PCIRootUID=1 maxmem=4096 npci=0x3000" to prevent lock ups. I also only had 1 8GB RAM stick in during install. Also note my Multibeast setup (check your board specs for the right Realtek controller, I also needed OptionalHDAEnabler for good audio). http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-builds/155353-success-asus-z97-i7-4790k-evga-geforce-gt-740-a.html

2) Get everything working and stable.

3) When you are ready to use Clover to boot via UEFI instead of Chimera via Legacy, go to this Guide, BUT start at Step 4: Post Install (skip steps 1-3). I was also able to skip parts 1-3 of Step 4, because my EFI partition was already FAT32. So I would mount it first and check before going through the trouble. You can use 'Clover Configurator' to mount partitions.

4) When you reboot, go into BIOS and make sure you set the UEFI version of your boot drive to load before the Legacy version:

Make sure UEFI is an option under CSM:

And EHCI Hand-off is enabled (this may only be needed for when booting from a USB):

5) Save changes and reboot. You should be greeted by the Clover UEFI boot screen instead of the Chimera Legacy boot screen to open your already installed OS X.

Hope this helps!
