High Sierra: Fresh Install Issue - "The installer resources have expired"

Trying to do a fresh install on the 2011 Custo Mac Mini in early 2020.
I ran into this problem. Came to this thread.
My process which was ultimately successful was to:
Boot from USB installer, choose installer,
Run the ntpdate -u “time.apple.com” command (not sure I typed that correctly, double check for yourself). Get confirmation. Then restart.
UNPLUG ETHERNET. Leave unplugged for rest of install.
Switch USB ports for the installer,
boot into gigabyte BIOS, change the time. It was 6 hours ahead in the 8PM hour so it put the time after Midnight and made the day wrong.
Saved to CMOS, restarted,
Double checked BIOS, it had not saved, changed it again, restarted, it now stayed the correct day and time.
Restarted again, booted from USB installer, used Disk Utility to erase both partitions on the Target drive, but did not completely reformat the drive.
Exited Disk Utility and installed from installer.
Restarted, booted to BIOS, confirmed time was still correct, it was.
Restarted, from USB, chose High Sierra and now the initial screen appeared, but still blacked out for a second, I swore angrily, but instead of the expired message appearing the installer appeared with a progress bar saying “18 minutes”. :)
Unfortunately power issues (BIOS?) made the computer crash moments later, but I consider this problem fixed.
