So I and guess the fix is to clear the caches and reboot

Generally, the first boot needs without caches as Clover can only patch things it loads. And those kexts it needs to patch are not in cache until you load them the first time and trigger a cache rebuild.

This guide is for Envy J/K/Q/N with Haswell CPUs. Your CPU is Skylake, therefore not supported by this guide.

Power management guide: http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-native-power-management-for-laptops.175801/

Please open a separate thread in the future, since non-Haswell Envy laptops are off-topic for this thread.

I see. I made a mistake then.

I am kind of concerned in that when initially following this guide, as it was my intent to upgrade the Hard Drive to an SSD I completely omitted creating an install USB and instead installed both the OS and Clover in the UEFI on a real Mac, installed the SSD and followed this guide from that point forward. I am now in need of booting a USB installer yet after going back and following that portion of this guide, I cannot for the life of me get an external USB installer to boot on this laptop at all. Each and every time I restart to boot the USB, I reach the Clover boot menu then after selecting the install drive, I get get a blank screen and nothing. No blinking or any indication of loading or movement on any USB device I have tried. I have double checked my Bios settings and those are all in order with USB being 1st on the list of both UEFI and Legacy. I have tried all three (3) ports, disabling Legacy mode, enabling secured boot yet nothing. I thought it safe to assume that since my internal drive boots while formatted in GPT and using UEFI that my external would also work in that manner as well. Is that not the case ? At any rate...I am stuck.

Boot verbose, show photo. Attach EFI/Clover folder as ZIP (omit 'themes' folder).

Hello dear RehabMan,
I have a HP Envy 15-k020us laptop, windows 8.1 is installed which has a recovery drive for this version of windows. I have partitioned the hard drive to install macOS El Capitan. But I am confused on dual booting issue. I have seen demos on dual booting mac and windows where they install windows after mac. But if I try to install mac now (where windows 8.1 is already installed), will I be successful? Also if I try this, will the recovery drive be ruined?
Also if I update any of the operating system in future, will the boot work same? I may need to be careful about os updating?
Please show me a way.

Dual boot as well as installing where a UEFI Windows install is already present, is covered in the main guide (post #2).
