[Guide] HP Envy Haswell series J/K/Q/N using Clover UEFI (10.11)

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hello
I managed to create a Usb installer for El Capitan 10.11.4 using unibeast(clover uefi)
succesfully booted into the installer screen adding boot flag nv_ram disable=1
disk utility succesfully formatted a drive I had shrunk on Windows 10 diskmgmt
furthermore it was able install OS X on that drive
the device rebooted and then the keyboard layout and initial setup pages were displayed
but I'm unable to get past the user account page since my keyboard and trackpad aren't functioning..
i do have a Logitech wireless mouse connected through the usb and the works fine
is it normal to require a usb keyboard for the early installation as well
have been reading these guides for the past 4 months and finally thot id give it a try
total noob .. Any help will be appreciated :beachball:

This guide does not use Unibeast. Follow the guide as written.

Completed the clover usb installer and managed to install without any issues with the keyboard and trackpad:thumbup:
however
1. I'm unable to get any audio
2. I followed the guide for installing clover onto the hdd (Gpt version)
Yet the efi doesn't have any kexts when it completes installing
guessing due to this the clover bootloader doesn't begin when I power on the laptop
when the usb is connected, it gives me the option to dual boot Windows and OS X
3. The dock and storage devices changed icons and colour automatically after reboot... Why

select "Install RC scripts on target volume" and/or "Install all RC scripts on all other boot volumes", but not for USB

this part for the Hdd installation, I'd be selecting the 'Install_osx' USB or would it be the drive on which the installation of OsX was done ??

Thankyou for you're earlier as well.

Im finally being able to get the best out of the laptop I feel

After initial installation, you must setup Clover exactly as you did for USB. It is in the main guide.

Then you begin post-installation. Read post #1 for details.

If, after following the guide as written, you have an issue... Read post #1, "Problem Reporting".

Hello Rehabman ,
Installed clover onto the hdd as per the instructions
when it finished, the necessary kexts showed in /kext/others.
however, without the usb connected, it seems to get stuck about 75% in the booting stage
so i shut it down, connected the usb and Boom!! it loaded onto the startup screen.
Still confused as to why this is happening
Also Used github through terminal and followed all the steps
The step for cache clearing as well
Still no audio after rebooting twice, also no battery info or charging info

Appreciate you're replies., Hoping it'll work
hope the attached zip helps

Hello Rehabman ,

No such thing as /kext/others. Perhaps you mean /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other.

And the Clover installer will not install anything there. If you have kexts there, it is because you had them there before running the Clover installer.

however, without the usb connected, it seems to get stuck about 75% in the booting stage

You probably aren't looking at the EFI partition on your HDD. Mounting EFI is covered in the FAQ. You should check your setup there.

so i shut it down, connected the usb and Boom!! it loaded onto the startup screen.

As I said before, you need to setup Clover on the HDD EFI exactly as you did for the USB.

Also Used github through terminal and followed all the steps
The step for cache clearing as well
Still no audio after rebooting twice, also no battery info or charging info

No expectation of battery/audio working without booting from the HDD with a correctly setup EFI/Clover.

image.jpg Sorry for my ignorance but all these many do seem startling. . However after my previous post I booted using the above selected option.
The keypad and brightness controls now work , also I booted using the without cache option using space bar.
The audio still doesn't show.
Not experiencing any bootup flashes or screen noise..
Please I think I went wrong somewhere here,

It is because you added all those boot entries from the Clover GUI. It is unnecessary and not recommended by the guide. You can remove them with efibootmgr in Linux.

Hello,
Those EFI Volumes did confuse me, also you're advice for using linux was contemplar=ted but i have no knowledge of how to or rather what i shud do to resolve the EFI.
Following which i decided to format the internal HDD and then install OS X.
I did lose my windows 10 but I'm hoping i can install it back later on another partition.
Thank you so much sir.
A guru you are in indeed.
Everything works, except the sub-woofer and sd card .
I do need you're help to install windows.
Read the dual boot guide for mavericks as well
Ive basically split my 1tb hdd in half
so if you could give advice as to how i can get windows back
I did create a backup and restore image earlier.
Also i made the Win !0 Usb installer as well
The only issue I'm facing is that when i insert the windows 10 usb (unable to install-drive locked) error is generated
Thank you once again

There is important dual-boot information in post #2 of the main Clover guide:
