Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install

I'm running Bios 9, and cannot get sleep to function. My Hack goes to sleep, then almost immediately wakes up. I then see this in the /var/log/kernel.log:
Wake reason: HDEF EHC1

So...how to I stop the USB and audio from waking my Mac up?

Gordo74 did you have your ati card plugged in.

iv just built ny pc with the exact spec as yours and I'm not sure weather to attach the card or not?

Either way works.

Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install

hi guys
thanks gordo for the guide.
I bought a GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3. Revision is 1.3 and BIOS version is F8.
This is my first hack. So I'm noobish.
I just installed 10.6.8 and I want to try to have it fully working.

Major Issues:
- audio working bad from rear output
- MB fails "install" if I select the second option is "System Utilities"

Minor Issues:
- need to boot with iBoot
- audio not working from front panel
- Ethernet seems to work only if the RJ45 cable is plugged before OSX boot.

Other:
- I don't know how to check CPU energy saving features, frequency scalability, etc
how to do that?

Have I to open a new thread or can I ask here?
Any Suggestions? I have read the FAQ and the other posts but I still don't understand how to fix and how to use right kexts.
Sorry for my english.
Thank you guys

edit: for MultiBeast, I downloaded DSDT found on tonymacx86's database.

Has anyone actually managed to get an EXTERNAL ESATA drive working with the GA-Z68-UD3H-B3 motherboard?

For the life of me I can't get an EXTERNAL ESATA drive working? Anyone? Anyone?

Thanks a million!

I have - but it disconnects if I over tax it (i.e try to read and write at the same time?)

Details - using case esata port connected to the lonely single SATA port in the corner of the MB (sorry - I'm at work and can't tell the port number)

What if you use the ESATA port that is next to the FireWire port on the back?

I have a similar disconnecting drives issue with USB3, I wonder if our DSDT is correct.

Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install

I was wondering what were the BIOS settings. most guides say "the only thing I did on my Gigabyte board besides setting Boot Priority to CD/DVD first was set Optimized Defaults, change SATA to AHCI mode, and set HPET to 64-bit mode." But there is so many options on the BIOS. were there any BIOS settings that helped or hurt the hackintosh setup?

All of your issues will be fixed once you install the bootloader. Select UserDSDT install and no system utilities with the latest MB and you should be fine.

Thank you Gordo, you were right.
Booting from iBoot was causing bad audio.
Bootloader installed successfully. The machine works like a charm (exept for Sleep function but it is a minor issue).
Thank you again!

Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install

Have you managed to get lion installed via the unibeast?
This is my second build and first using Lion. I am using the same mobo with on board video but everytime I start Itunes the mouse freezes. What kexts are you using for audio, networking and usb? Much thanks.
