You haven't got another video card in the system, have you? Even one you are not using? That can play hob with the HD 3000.

No other cards. I do have an old 7300GT, but it isn't installed in the computer. I tried it and got a KP on boot.

I can't reproduce your setup exactly, as I have an i7. I pulled the graphics cards out. In UEFI setup, I loaded optimized defaults, set AHCI, and 512GB of video ram. I did a clean install to a "new" hard disk. I ran Multibeast with ALMOST the same options as shown at the start of this thread. I did not enable "TRIM", as I'm not using an SSD.

The monitor is connected via DVI. It's a Dell U2412M (1920x1200). It all seems to work as advertised. The display is listed as HD3000, I have 1920x1200 resolution. Sleep works as expected.

Interestingly, GraphicsEnabler=Yes. In the past, I've seen GraphicsEnabler=Yes for natively supported cards yield a black screen. Not so here.

The differences are the monitor (although the resolution is the same), and the CPU. Maybe the RAM size (16GB)

Time to put this machine back together.

Thanks for trying it. I have 8GB RAM, but I don't think that would matter. If I have GraphicsEnabler=Yes then I get a black screen under all circumstances (I can log in from another computer and see the desktop, but can't see it locally). I wonder if my UEFI could be screwed up. I don't see any errors when holding the DELETE button during start up and am able to change settings. I think it should be okay, but something is wrong..

EDIT: Can anything be gleaned from the Console report? It seems unhappy.

You are welcome. I'm not sure what it proved, except that something is different. It seemed like a good idea at the time. The screen resolution is not the issue.

Most of that log looks like incidental stuff. Iphonedisk seems to be known to crash repeatedly. The VNC server may be having problems due to the native VNC server being active.

I can't help wonder about the log file name: "Craigs-Mac-Pro-3." What are you using for your system definition? Though I've never verified it, I've read that you must use Mac Mini for the HD 3000 driver to work. You're not using Mac Pro, are you?

I did not have anything other than 1024x768 resolution (or a display listed as spdisplays_display), until I ran Multibeast, and restarted. Maybe that goes some way to proving that you need a Mac Mini definition.

Well, I selected Mac Mini in Multibeast so I think the Mac Pro name is a remnant from older installs. Nevertheless, I'm running it again just to double check. After running MB I repair permissions with disk utility. I noticed I have one thing that pops up. Not sure if it matters:

Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent” has been modified and will not be repaired.

I'll reboot to see what happens.

Out of wondering if maybe my unibeast usb disc was bad, I created a new one and did a fresh install. Went through multibeast and checked everything in the guide, and the result is I'm still in the same place. Default is 1024x720 spdisplays_display with 64MB of shared memory. Sleep still gives a white screen. It wakes up fine, but the monitor is blaring white/light gray, which just isn't going to work out. Printing was broken, but now works. Youtube is still broken.

I'm starting to think I need to just bag it and go back to regular BIOS. I saw the guide for downgrading to F10, but it looks like it needs Windows. Anybody know if there's a Mac solution to get back to F10?

HI Memmerson,
Can you tell me which SMBios do you use?

Got my GA Z68MA working.

Used DBAN to completely wipe the drive. Necessary? I don't know how the ML installer handles residual stuff on the HD.

Used latest UniBeast to create boot USB flash.

Used the USB flash to boot and install 10.8.2.

Used MultiBeast 5.1.2 post install. They added a boot option in the latest to set 1920 x 1080.

Easy peasy...

UEFI and no DSDT.

HD3000

HDMI video works.

Now to glue back all the hair I had pulled out!

I did order a Nvidia GT940 yesterday before getting it to work this morning. Must have intimidated it. Ya think?

I did go back into MultiBeast to grab the settings used and then canceled.
