GTX 970/980 with Mountain Lion?

Hello everyone! My current system runs a GTX 760 and I was looking to upgrade this holiday season. For 970s and 980s they have a free FC4 copy so that would even be more incentive for me, however...I dual boot Windows 8.1 (gaming), and OS 10.8.5 (video and photo editing.) I need to know if the 980 or 970 would be compatible for osx, also if I would have to do anything other then install some more drivers. Would I have to upgrade to Yosemite (idk if I want to do that...)

Yea only seems to be supported in Yosemite. Maxwell chip GPUs were never supported in Mavericks.
