Rick
I am just about to make the same cut to my G4 Cube (my first time to), will try not to repeat.

After alot of filing filing and more filing I finally got the io plate almost perfectly lining up with the motherboard. So i hooked up everything and fired it up and for some reason the cpu fan spins at 1600 rpm which is normal and very silent and in the bios at the fan control area there stood that the cpu was 0 degrees.. but in mac and windows the cpu tempratures where between 30-40 which are normal. The system fan runs at 930-970 rpm.

After 2 reboots (from mac to windows) the fan start spinning again at 2600 rpm and in the bios the cpu temprature was 105 again..

Not much done today only some tests and cable management. And I did some research on the cpu temperature fan issue and some forums say that the heat sensor on the motherboard is broken/defect so I contacted the company where I ordered the board and they told me that they have send my problem to someone from the technical service to see if he knows anything, if not then the bord must send back to them for repair..

Rick, Re your CPU Temp Fan speed issue, can you post three photos from the bios screens. Namely
  • Config / Fan Control
  • Config / Fan Control / CPU Fan Speed
  • Config / Fan Control / Processor Temp

Hi Kiwi,

Rick,
Apart from the processor temperature being either 0 or 105 degrees in the first and second screen shots nothing I can see is wrong. That temp comes from internal CPU sensor. Try removing and reseating the CPU, otherwise could be a defective CPU. If you have another MB or CPU you can try a different combination to help isolate the defective component

Hi Kiwi,

Okay, yesterday I've removed the cpu from the socket and putted some extra terminal paste on and screwed it tight on again.
And the rest of the cpu works fine I've already contacted the company of the motherboard so I think I'll contact the company of the cpu soon,

Rick,
