Tried to direct update from Mavericks to Sierra via clover and AppStore according to guide, including system def change to imac14,2.
Update didn't work as expected.

Second install via bootable thumb drive unibeast and clover version 4045.
(Pre-installed clover with latest version 4152. No format of ssd beforehand)

1st boot on ssd while installing shows panic and reboots. No "welcome screen" after install.
Boot without cache is not available.
Safe mode verbose log shows nothing conclusive to me.
Recovery HD works and thumb drive boot leads to Sierra setup only.
Any ideas?

Working mavericks system copy backup available (super duper).
Unibeast, multibeast and Sierra (10.12.6) are all the latest available versions.

I imagine two possibilities.
- format ssd and re-install on said ssd
- messed up clover config on thumb drive (maybe missing kext)

I go and check out how to upload the clover folder in here.

still hope for guidance here.
