I ended up buying a the Lacie 400 firewire card because I only need the 1394a ports. I did not really need the 1394b, so i figured i would save myself a couple of dollars (payed 13 USD vs 28 for the syba). It also does not hurt that its from Lacie a name I'm familiar with.

As I am looking it up to show you I'm getting a little nervous because on the Lacie site there is a picture of the card with a VIA chipset.
http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10049
The retailer that i bought from clearly said it was a TI chipset. In fact it was one of the main selling points.

So i really don't think, well at least hope i don't have a problem. I will let you know the deal when i get the card. Fingers Crossed.

Good luck! Hopefully it works out. Keep us updated.

 Checking in as a satisfied board owner with the User DSDT method Z68x-ud3h-b3. I have one post for getting a kernel panic when install was near finished. This was solved, it was because I was looking at the motherboard output instead of the video card.
Updated to BIOS 9, used the edited DSDT for 9, and all is well. Connected the front audio port to using an AC 97 connector and no front headphones yet. Re reading the manual, page 29 it says audio defaults to HD audio, so I need to re connect using the HD audio connector.
Best to you all

The front page MultiBeast settings are good. But, instead of the audio setting, I would go with Toleda's new AppleHDA driver linked to on the front page the other day.

As for Bios settings, set your SATA ports to AHCI, and set HPET Mode to 64-bit. I started with the recommendations here: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/iboot-multibeast-install-mac-os-x-on.html

Follow that guide if you need any assistance, and this guide for a UniBeast install, which is a breeze with this Motherboard: http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/10/unibeast-install-mac-os-x-lion-using.html

The other bios settings are specific to your hardware and what you want to do. I turned my XMP profile to "Profile 1" to get my RAM working at 1600 speed. Good luck!

Thanks for that. One question...my RAM also run at 1600, but they are low voltage ones at 1.35v, is Profile 1 good for me? As you can probably tell I'm new to all of this!

I'm not sure. My ram is 1.5v. I think it might be okay, because if I remember correctly, after switching the profile to "1", my voltage was listed at 1.2v. Also, I think the XMP profile is dependent on the type of ram you have installed. I don't think you can access XMP settings in the BIOS unless your installed ram allows it. Similarly, the ram itself might specify which profile is available in the BIOS. I could totally be wrong here, so don't take my word for it. Research XMP and the best settings for your ram before setting it.
Can anybody else more knowledgeable concur?

I just turned the system on for the very first time and went through the settings. My RAM was at 1333 at 1.50v with XMP disabled as default, changed it to Profile1 and my RAM was then running at 1600 at 1.35v...so yea I guess it worked, thanks!

One other thing, my BIOS version is currently on F2, which is quite old and is not even available on the Gigabyte website anymore, the earliest is F3. So Im thinking of updating it to a later version, maybe F6, but Im not sure. Which one is the best with no problems? Ive read about some boot problems a few pages back which I have no idea about but Im assuming they are with the F7 beta versions, so I want to stay away from ones that would give any sort of problems.

F8 without a doubt. Don't get to involved in the bios yet, the update wipes the profiles IIRC.

You have a version 1.0 or later version of the board?

Breakthrough

Fellas,

I've been hard at work, testing, loosing a ton of sleep over hdmi audio out of the quadro 4000.

It was one of the things I set out to do from day 1.

The real hero here is Toleda, he finally fixed me up! :headbang:

I've been dealing with lots of kernel panics geting this to work so this is for the brave.

I renamed my default tonymac dsdt tony.aml so if there's an issue I can boot lion at chimera using :

-v DSDT=/Extra/tony.aml

just in case....

I have the Rev 1.0. And I cant seem to find the F8, maybe its not officialy released yet? Besides the latest DSDT on the database is F6, unless there are more on this thread somewhere.

Nice job discrete. Gives me a real reason to upgrade my BIOS
