So I am rocking a decently old machine, a few years old. I have a GA-P55A-UD3 motherboard, and I am trying to get onboard sound to work. I have tried the guide at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/130-realtek-alc888-applehda-audio/ as suggested by a friend, and no luck. It looks like that is for HDMI anyways, and I am looking for the 3.5mm jack sound to work (preferably with 5.1 surround sound working:headbang:) without having to buy an audio card. I am running 10.9.1. My BIOS is 2.0 F11

Now I have tried the Audio>WithDSDT>ALC888 Legacy, but it broke the USB and Ethernet (and who knows what else) when I installed it.

Thanks in advance.

HDMI only, not true. 3.5, absolutely.
Broke USB and Ethernet, not possible.

I realize this is very late to the party (seeing that this thread is 2 years old), BUT if anyone out there is in my shoes and stumbled across this:

You want to use Realtek ALC892, NOT ALC888. Works like a charm.

I found this to be super helpful: https://github.com/toleda/audio_ALCInjection
