I am Brainstorming for my G5 Build and i Had an idea!
Why not use a Server U1 PSU? would it not fit in the original space?
you would still have to have the short AC extender but still...

might fit the bill

I cant measure the size of case cause my G5 case wont be here till sunday:cry:

does anyone see why that wouldn't work?

Absolutely, this would fit the bill. By the way I think you mean 1U not U1, the only slight downside it that these PSUs are not rated to have high wattage outputs, so are not going to be much good if you want a high perfomance video card.

Update: I retract the above statement just found a 1400w 1U PSU on Newegg that would fit perfectly.

Also I thought that you may want to consider noise. PSU's of this size use 40mm fans. Smaller fans generally mean more noise.

I've been mulling over this one for my next build. Shuttle PC63 500W PSU for SG45H7, SN78SH7, SP45H7, SX58H7.

Hi Rossi,
I used a Shuttle 500W supply inside an MDD G4 power supply case and it fits well, so should be good for a G5 too.....also this is not a noisy supply. Only disadvantage really is it is quite expensive for only 500w.
