See Title. I have it booting into Monterey just fine, and it's stable when I don't do anything, but if I'm actively using it, it will fairly quickly black screen and reboot.

USB was mapped and seems to be coming on and working, audio didn't have any issues. I have the CFG Lock Patched, and I have tried just about everything I can think of, but I've run out of ideas.

Here are specs:

Mobo: Dell Precision 3630 (Intel C246 chipset)
Processor: i7-8700 @ 3.20 GHz (Coffee Lake)
GPU: Intel UHD 630
Wifi/BT: Fenvi T919

Help?

My thought is that it has something to do with Read/Write or with USB since it seems to be perfectly stable when it's idling.

It happened when I was setting up the keyboard, and it happened when I was installing MountEFI in Terminal (was not using Keyboard or Mouse at that point).

I am leaning toward it has something to do with my SATA Read/Write...

Using an ADATA SU635 480GB...

I am going to try turning off AppleXcpmCfgLock & DisableIoMapper... since I have those things disabled in BIOS, will report back with updates.

UPDATE: Turning off AppleXcpmCfgLock & DisableIoMapper have seemingly done nothing. Moving onto other ideas...

UPDATE 2: I need to try turning off AppleCpuPmCfgLock as well... Will report back when I try it...

UPDATE 3: Disabling AppleCpuPmCfgLock worked and the build is stable.

I wanted to come post an update: Fenvi T919 SUCKS, and I bought the proprietary Dell PCIe Wireless Card: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255834832216

And used a BCM94630 M.2 card in it instead of the included DW1810: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0861T79QY/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

After mapping the internal Dell proprietary USB 2.0 header to USBMap.kext, it is working FLAWLESSLY. Significantly more reliable connection than the T919. If you are looking to use a Precision for a Hackintosh, I would recommend this method over a Fenvi T919.
 
Also, on another note, if you plan on using an RX 580, buy the ones in the buyer's guide. The XFX Black and Core will not work. Buy the XXX or a Sapphire Pulse. Tried about 16 different ways to get the XFX Black to work and gave up.
 
Another Note: Dell updated the Precision 3630 BIOS on 12/13/2022, so you'll have to re-patch the CFG Lock.

Thanks for this update - looks like you made a huge amount of progress. I have a RX570 and a RX580 I can use, and am inspired by this thread to try to implement opencore on a dell precision 3630 i9-9900. I have a running optiplex classic 7020MT build, but not ventured into the process for a very long time as that build was awhile back. Until now, Ive not see anything that helped with a Precision 3620 or Precision 3630 , and I had assumed given the chipset it wouldnt work at all.

Could you please either point me to, or provide, some details on how to get this build in place? I am fairly out of touch with the whole scene but keen to get a new build working. I see your EFI folder from Oct2022 is posted, but am assuming tweaked (successfully) since then.

Any pointers, references or build guides much appreciated.

EFI folder should be good, but it's running OC 0.8.5.

A few things:

1. If you use that EFI folder or config plist, make sure you disable AppleXcpmCfgLock, AppleCpuPmCfgLock, & DisableIoMapper

2. It looks like you already have a Dell Hackintosh, but just a reminder to follow dreamwhite's guide to get the CFG register unlocked. Dell just released a BIOS update on 1/10/2023, so I'll try to patch that and report back.

3. As I mentioned above, if you are using a 3630, I would recommend getting the following for Wifi/BT:

3b: Dell Precision 3630 OEM PCIe Wifi/BT M2 Adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B5V935HX/?tag=tonymacx86com-20

Just like the Fenvi card, this solution also is Apple Native and will work OOB without additional kexts.

4. The Precision 3630's case design is terrible... quite possibly the worst I've ever seen. If you are planning on doing any heavy computing and stressing the processor at all (gaming, rendering, compiling, etc.), and your model didn't come with it, I would recommend buying a VRM Heat Shield and the upgraded cpu cooler:

I would also re-run the USB mapping tools. Mine works fine, but I mapped from my personal rig and while I think the kext should work fine, I would re-run it for your rig.

This has been a fun project. Lots of learning and tewaking as the process has gone on. Still running great with Ventura 13.1, and until Apple stops supporting Intel macs on macOS, I plan on using this.

Hey, thanks for the fast reply. All good stuff - I'm getting excited at the prospect of getting this going.

Im assuming you mean use the attached EFI, as the baseline in OC, and follow a generic OC guide otherwise right? Also wasnt aware you had gone to Ventura (I was going to start with Monterey). Was that a system-prefs update, or already set that up on the USB boot installer?

I wasnt aware of CFG register tweaks on DELL and will need to school up on that. My old Optiplex didnt seem to need it (from memory).

No argument on the case layout - its "compact" and quirky for sure, but not exact easy for users to get into or mod and not sure why DELL decided to play with the format. No external bay access either which is annoying as I use a HD Dock to switch OS's on the old one (rather than dual boot/partitions) as its cleaner/simpler/works. I have an older Precision 3620 which has a great case / access and setup, but sadly they decommissioned that layout on the next gen.

I have an old FENVI card, but never used it. The points about the M2 and OEM Wifi I had noted and looking to source them. I wont be held up by that tho as use wired connections with towers so will start without, and plug in later.
