I have an Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard. I created a Unibeast thumbdrive from my High Sierra iMac (2011) at work. I can boot to the installer but when I get to Disk Utility and try to erase the drive I get the following error:

"Unable to write to the last block of the device!!"

I tried two different drives with the same result. I tried both the Intel and Asmedia SATA controllers. I booted Unibeast in UEFI mode as well.

Below is my lspci output:

  • May be you could tell us what drive you are trying to Erase ?
    • SATA Spin Disk/ SATA SSD?
  • Is it Brand new or Used?
  • What make and Model?

The first drive I tried was a SanDisk Extreme 120GB SSD
The next drive I tried is a WD: WDC WD10EACS-00ZJB0 1.0 TB

Neither drive is new. The WD is running Debian right now. I was running Debian on the SSD but it's getting pretty old and I don't trust it.

The WD was a backup drive so it sat idle most of the time.

  • See if you can format the disk you want to use as a Hackintosh Target in Linux first in extFS.
  • Then connect that Linux formatted disk to this PC and then see if you can use the disk utility from the USB installer to Erase it again in GPT and HFS+J to start the installation.

Well, it said "Installing - 18 minutes remaining". It said that for about 5 minutes, then rebooted. I now have two MAC OSX entries on my boot menu and I can't boot to the Unibeast USB anymore. Don't know what the deal is.

I got it installed but Multibeast is not working. I chose all my hardware and built and installed to the High Sierra hard drive. I cannot boot without the USB drive plugged in.

This is a very common problem. Reinstall and make sure that at every reboot cycle (before you finally get all the way into the High Sierra desktop) you manually choose the USB installer to boot from instead of the newly created High Sierra partitions on the hard drive. Use the boot order hot key to choose the installer every time. This requires that you pay attention to the process throughout and not let the system automatically choose another boot option. Once you get into the setup for the High Sierra Desktop after the final reboot cycle, install Multibeast and remove the USB installer, reboot.
Well said:)
Let the disk with a working Clover Boot Loader open the CBM screen to boot the disk that has yet to have its own CLOVER EFI boot loader, Right?
