Hello @MikeHoward and @peter111313. Any of you could install MacOs on the Acer E5-575G-53VG without problems? Any advice in particular?

Hi,

Short answer, definitely should work. I have the E5-575-51BZ. This model is without dedicated graphics card. It uses Intel HD 620 graphics which is super for the purpose I'm using it for.

The E5-575G-53VG comes with a Nvidia GTX 940MX graphics card. Best is to completely disabled it.

Very, Super Very important: I have just recently upgrade with success from 10.12 to 10.13.3 !

NOTE: You have to read all the @RehabMan posts and guides and how to build your MacBook pro. An awesome guy, always lead you to do it yourself. You should not expect him to give all the answers. He has written so many magnificent guides that you can follow.

Lastly, only problem I had was WIFI/Blue tooth. I replaced the card with this BCM94352Z card. It works perfectly on both 10.12 and 10.13

Regards

I am currently a film student in college and I use Final Cut Pro X. I already have this laptop and a mac mini, but it would be nice to be able to have a portable mac for obvious reasons. I know that this laptop has an Nvidia graphics card in it, but it also has integrated graphics. Is it possible to make this into a hackintosh? If so can I use the extra hard drive slot in this laptop to store mac os. Here is the link to the laptop with the specs on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DT4A2R4/?tag=tonymacx86com-20 . I'll also post the specs here:
  • 6th Generation Intel Core i5-6200U Processor (Up to 2.8GHz)
  • 15.6-inch Full HD Display, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
  • 8GB DDR4 Memory, 256GB SSD
Thanks.

This was one of the laptops I had been researching, but I ended up going with ASUS UX430 - seemed like nicer exterior and noticed many of the Acer screens were not that bright. This could make using it outdoors or in bright areas difficult, just be sure to go to a store and see it in person, etc..

Here are links from my research on the E5-575G, there are people running them but variation of the model can have slightly different sound hardware, wifi card, etc.. so you really have to just take the plunge and do your best to work on getting it working - and ask for help along the way where you need it.

Get reading. :D

Mine is working great on 10.13.6. Everything is cool. Only change was to replace the network card with BCM94352Z.

I have not upgrade to 10.14. Will do so over the holidays
