Hi,
Im planning on building a powerful machine that will operate both on mac and windows platform. At the moment I'm splitting my work on to two computers: MacBook Pro and Desktop Pc. Now I'm ready to take the next step and combine these two in a single and more powerful machine.
Will be using it only for my work which is graphic design, cad and 3d rendering + video editing. Might be overlocking.
Here are all the programs that i will be using:
AutoCad
ArchiCad
Rhinoceros
Sketchup
3ds Max + Vray
Photoshop
Illustrator
AfterEffects
Premiere Pro
DaVinci Resolve
My selected build:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 CPU Cooler or Thermaltake Water 3.0 Performer 99.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard
MEMORY: Crucial Ballistix Sport 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
STORAGE 1: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
STORAGE 2: Seagate Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
GPU: 2 X EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card (2-Way SLI)
POWER: Corsair 760W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
OD: LG BH16NS40 Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer
CASE: BitFenix Neos Black/Gold ATX Mid Tower Case
OS: YOSEMITE + WINDOWS 8.1 PRO
DISPLAY: Apple Thunderbolt 27-inch
Concerns:
1. Overall compatibility vs operating systems
2. CPU cooler, as will be rendering large and complex scenes on GPU and if I plan to overlock
3. Power, would it be enough?
4. Can i use apple thunderbolt display?
5. Is crucia ballistix sport stable if using for 3d rendering?
Also, I'm located in Italy, and so far my selected mobo (Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4) isn't available, maybe there is something better and maybe less expensive? My only concern is that I would have options for usb 3.0 + thunderbolt
Thank you for your suggestions/ advices!
