[SOLVED] Boot Loop: Your computer restarted because of a problem...

Been watching this community for a while and just last week built my first machine from the buyer's guide.

However, I keep running into the computer randomly freezing and shutting down and then when it reboots, or if I have to manually reboot it, it gets stuck in a boot loop. It'll go bios, Clover, "Your computer restarted because of a problem..." screen (see attachment) over and over again. Sometimes I have to leave the machine for a few hours before it will finally boot normally to the login screen.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Thanks!

When it does start up, does it offer to file a crash report? If so, tell it yes, then hit Details, then copy and past that into a post here, and don't actually send it to Apple.

If not, you can try running /Applications/Utilities/Console and poking around the entries on the left for crash reports and see if you can find a report with details.

Yes, it does. I will post this report next time it happens.

If not, you can try running /Applications/Utilities/Console and poking around the entries on the left for crash reports and see if you can find a report with details.

For now, here is the system.log for all references to "ReportCrash"

So after posting here last time. I went into my settings and told my computer not never sleep. I haven't had a boot loop problem, like I described, until I had to shutdown my computer and restart it. Then it went into it's normal boot loop and finally, after I disconnected all USB drives/peripherals (keyboard, mouse and bluetooth excluded), it booted into OS X.

So it seems to be somewhat related to USB devices connected. On a semi-related note, I can't get USB 3.0 drives to be recognized by OS X when they are plugged into USB 3.0 ports.

In any case, I did as you asked and here is the Problem Report OS X spit out when I finally logged in.

Excellent! Solved my problem!

Thank you!

I'm having this issue with a GT 740 as well. I'm going to give this a try tonight and see how it goes. Thanks for all the info in this thread guys.

Also having the same problem, but with the gt 640.

Update:
Got in with nv_disable=1 so I could install the drivers. It was difficult because the screen was so glitchy I guess because it was confused on the drivers maybe. But the good news is that it worked!:thumbup:
