I've been wasting a few days here and I'm still kinda lost in this process. This is way over my head, haha!Check this method.
If you have Thunderbolt NVM36 installed then when you install BIOS 9901, it will downgrade the TB4 firmware back to 31, no questions asked, and TB1/2 devices will live on once again!I've been wasting a few days here and I'm still kinda lost in this process. I've tried to follow all steps with the UEFI NE tool to extract the bin and sct files, uploaded to UEFI Tool web tool and tried to replace updated (unlocked BIOS) bin with the UEFI Tool 0.28 and saved the updated .cap file, but, alas, it will not load in the BIOS.
ALL BIOS files I've tried to load with 2305 installed have failed, and not even let me try.
9901 also does not work for me. Denied flashing with EZ flash and flashback
So, I was wondering,
Do you happen to have a 2305 modified BIOS that I could use that I could then rollback? I have a Z690 ProArt WIFI, just to clarify.
Or a 2004 or 2103 would be OK, too, as I'm planning on reverting to 2004 or 2103. I'm assuming the correct process is to modify the 2305 BIOS to unlock and be able to rollback, then use an official BIOS downloaded from asus for 2004 or 2103
I have TB1 (or maybe TB2, not 100% sure which it is, but older) audio device so that's all I need to be working. I'm assuming the rollback BIOS will downgrade the thunderbolt firmware?
Just to confirm, did you happen to have a Thunderbolt device TB1 or TB2 that worked after downgrading?
Thanks so much for your help, BTW!! if I can't get this to work, I guess I'm going to have to send the motherboard back to Asus for a replacement motherboard with a *hopefully* older BIOS...that's if they even have it in stock.
that sounds wonderful but the 9901 won't install for me.. says it's not a valid bios fileIf you have Thunderbolt NVM36 installed then when you install BIOS 9901, it will downgrade the TB4 firmware back to 31, no questions asked, and TB1/2 devices will live on once again!
Hi, just double checking: your external drive ejects briefly when you connect it to the front Type-C? Does it happen just on macOS or Windows as well…?@m4rk0, happens on my Z790 aswell.
Yes on macOS - front USB-C Port mounts drive, un-mounts a second later, then re-mounts 5 or so seconds later.Hi, just double checking: your external drive ejects briefly when you connect it to the front Type-C? Does it happen just on macOS or Windows as well…?
