Hello guys. At the moment I have:

Asrock X99 OC Formula Motherboard
+
i7-5960x overclocked @4.3 CPU

32GB DDR4

AMD R9 295x2

M2.ULTRA Samsung XP941

few Samsung 850 Pro

It is video editing computer for Panasonic GH4 (Premiere CC + Speedgrade CC mostly, Photoshop + Lightroom also) and gaming PC.

I read about 295x2 problems under Yosemite. It is impossible to run that card properly. There is a lot of problem with X99 also.

I think to buy and add 290x 8GB (or 4GB) specially for Hackintosh (and some bonus Tri-fire additional FPS in games for my new True 4K 4096x2160 LG 31MU97 monitor, ordered last week). I also plan to buy 850 EVO SSD specially for Mac OS, because second M.2 possibly will not work under Mac OS.

What do you think about Asrock motherboard and such graphics cards installation? How stable could be such solution, and will it be possible to use all the power of 290x? What about 8GB VRAM under Mac OS? I know, that in windows crossfire it will be 295x2 4+4GB and 290x 4gb of 8gb only used.

What about overclocking and hackintosh?

I have Macbook Pro Late 2013 and it is really unstable in Adobe CC products. Windows is much more stable. But I like to use mac os for some things.

Thank you for any recommendations!

I love this board, I have not yet tried to install 10.10 on it. I have a Sapphire Tri-X R9 290X and the same M.2 boot drive as you, installed in the top M.2 slot. Windows 7 is very fast and this board is stable and over clocks the 5960X to 4.5 GHz easily. It is a water cooled CPU. Have you made it a Mac yet?

No, I did not try, because 295x2 still could be a problem. I am still thinking about 290x out of the box support in MAC OS. Looks like it is unstable at the moment, in Premiere CC, for example.

I'm also interested in this board, please give a quick report if you tried to install os X on it!

Yes, can it work with 10.11.2?
