Apple Releases OS X El Capitan 'Golden Master' GM Candidate to Beta Testers

I'm baffled. I have a fully functioning gigabyte z87n-wifi mobo + i5-4670K +evga gtx 970 + ssdt (via clover) running with zero issues under Yosemite. I followed, religiously, the instructions itt for the NUC system...and other sites..and, I can't even get the installer to go...i've tried to make a USB installer, I've tried to upgrade, etc...I've seen the same error messages other users have reported..and...I can't even get my USB install or upgrade to get past anything substantial.

Does anyone, perchance, have a reasonable upgrade and/or new install guide for my hardware?

edit: and, yes, this is with the PB GM release.

I did the update from Yosemite 10.10.5 without problems, using Clover r3259 (UEFI); just had to set a value (0x67) in the CsrActiveConfig (Clover Configurator > Rt Variables) in order to emulate the command line tool 'csrutil disable' (a.k.a. rootless=0), to be able to install unsigned kexts and update the AppleGraphicsDevicePolicy's Info.plist.


For graphics, I install the latest NVIDIA Web Drivers for El Capitan (see here)

For those who find some USB ports no longer work after installing El Capitan, there's a thread about this on InsanelyMac: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/306777-guide-usb-fix-el-capitan-1011/?st=0

With my GA-X79-UD7 I had to disable USB3 in the bios, because I had too many usb errors, and I couldn't even boot.



If anyone has a better suggestion than killing USB3...

After installation, I then had to reinstall Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X to get back access to my NTFS volumes and run Toleda's audio_cloverALC110_V1.0e.command to get audio. After that, everything seems to be working properly.

i am at the point where i am able to boot intot he isntalle,r and install elcap and boo tinto elcap.

Thing is i cant use the config.plist i used with my yosemite install, even after adding the proper rtvariables what happens is during the startup the system restarts...

when i use a fresh config.plist it boots fine, all works but! i cant login to imessage/applestore etc...

anyone has a way to get that fixed ? the strange thing is i never had to do all these imessage/applestore fixes on yosemite...

Last Beta seemed stable but the GM I keep getting random kernel panics. Can anyone help me?
Happened when I have launched iTunes, or App Store, or nothing, then reboots and I can get into the apps but annoying and frustrating.

Yoyellow: Probably you need a custom serial number and related fields in your config.plist. The defaults used are blacklisted, AFAIK. For the long version: Fix iMessage

The NUC thread has a slightly shorter section on generating a serial number and the other needed fields when setting up config.plist, though you'd have to adapt it to your system type if not using a MacBookAir7,2 system definition.

How are you guys even updating?? I have downloaded through app store and run the updater, it says ready for reboot but then it just boots into Yosemite again?

Do i need to make a USB key with the new installer?
