ALC888 32/64-bit AppleHDA.kext (10.6.3)

Heyas good people! I present to you today a new AppleHDA.kext for ALC888 chips. Features include:
- 32/64-bit (10.6.2 and 10.6.3 are supported)
- AC3/DTS 5.1 output (iTunes 9 is still pissy, VLC works great)
- No need for DSDT editing
- All inputs and outputs now show up correctly in System Profiler and Sound Prefs Pane
- It's just 1 kext that you have in your Extensions folder anyway

Install is easy; remove your old AppleHDA.kext (HDAenebler.kext too if present) and VoodooHDA (if installed) then drag the new AppleHDA.kext onto Kext Utility (or whatever app you use to install kexts), repair permissions and reboot! Enjoy!

Nice one- great work Bansaku! This will help- especially if we have to replace the AppleHDA anyway- still working on a vanilla solution with LegacyHDA.

System/Library/Extensions. It's meant to be a complete replacement for the vanilla AppleHDA- hardcoded with 888 info.

You will not need DSDT edits or LegacyHDA in /E/E with this solution.

Gave it a shot with the UD2 and the 888b. No joy. I got two Audio devices in the System Profiler and nothing in my Sound Preferences.

^^ Same. UD2 w/888B and haven't got any sound going at all.

It's because it's for ALC 888 not ALC 888b.

Yeah, I'm just trying anything at this point. I've followed the 888b thread too with no luck.

The best thing to do right now for the 888b is to roll back to the 10.6.2 AppleHDA. Or consider VoodooHDA- the one in MultiBeast works fine for me.
