I have a Mac Pro 1,1 with Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and 2 Dual Xenons, my 5770 ATI (unbranded from ATI) works with GE=Yes and runs QE, OpenGL but it just froze and nothing would respond. Mouse cursor would still move for a while, but it finally stopped. Google Chrome Helper, WindowServer, kernel were only programs running. Not sure if it was a chrome bug. OpenGL graphics seem a little off, a little flickery.. they do run without a crash though. I am using Chameleon on a separate partition to boot the 64 bit efi instead of the Mac Pro 32efi. Mountain Lion is 64 bit only. I figured I would save apple tax and use a PC card since i am using chameleon :/ looks like a problem with AMDJuniperGraphicsAccelerator

options:
1: get a new card
2: try to get it to stop crashing

please assist

I got a sapphire card, after many roms and none working.... searched all over. Card just didn't want to work :p looked like the same hardware as on the Apple 5770 card though.

The suspense builds...

New card from eBay was missing a resistor and did not boot. Put the old card back in and used lion 10.7, it is natively recognized as a 5770 and I get the EFI boot screen (only with VGA adapter on bottom DVI port). When I use chameleon to boot in 64 bit (with kernel and kext extensions running as 64 bit) it is recognized as 5000 series. When I use GraphicsEnabler=Yes it is recognized as a 5700 series and works great without random crashes. Maybe this has something to do with new Mountain Lion drivers? Maybe on lion it is using the 32 bit kernel extension (I don't think so). Maybe it has to do with the EFI I flashed to the card? Please help I would like to get Mountain Lion running 100% with this card.

I have the EXACT same symptoms.

HIS card for me.

Beginning to become a serious PITA, not sure what to try next, device ID appears to be correct and in AMDRadeonAccelerator.kext:

<key>IOPCIMatch</key>
<string>0x67381002 0x67391002 0x67201002 0x67221002</string>

Clutching at straws but I hope 10.8.3 helps, if not I'll save up for a genuine Mac 5770 card.

Pah.
