I know this isn't very helpful but I too had this problem. the only way I was able to fix it was to reinstall OS X from scratch (which I needed to do anyway). In the meantime, I was just booting from my USB stick and selecting the OS X drive from there as it has the Chameleon boot loader on it...

To anyone else having this problem, what worked for me was to open Finder, click on GO and then hold alt. Library will then appear which should contain the Preferences folder. I couldn't find my SystemProfiler.plist for ages until I tried this.

I did it again - flashed it and then the same happened - no BIOS splash screen I really appreciate this by the way, if you can help me fix it so it works - I will be sure to give you some sort of donation or something :)
