I have been reluctant to update my 10.8.2 to 10.8.3 and now to 10.8.4. Has anyone done it and maintained 100 % system (video, network, sound, sleep, etc.)?
After reading the sticky I almost feel compelled not to try and just to shell out the $$$ for a macbookair. Is there such a thing as a 100 % compatibility hackintosh NB, preferably one that is based on an ultrabook (thin)?
FIgured it out.
1) Shrink the mac partition(s) to expose the desired amount of space for linux.
2) Boot into a live linux environment and partition the drive to your liking (I used ext4 for the boot partition and ext4 for the system partition).
3) Flag the /boot partition as bootable using...
Dual booting Hackintosh + Linux [SOLVED]
I have an existing Hackingtosh install working perfectly and I would like to add an option to boot into Linux. I used the diskutil to make a 12 G partition at the end of the disk where I installed a minimal Linux. How can I get the multibeast...
My hackintosh seems to query the HDD about once per second for reasons I cannot understand. Example, I boot the machine fresh and just sit on the desktop with nothing running. The HDD light flashes about once/sec. Any ideas how can I figure out what is doing this and stop it?

SOLVED!
I edited my guide with these steps so that others may benefit from my experiences.
I want to extend a warm and sincere THANK YOU to all who came to my aid with this. Particularly rlf156.
OK! I did it; below is screenshot showing there is no offending file inside the FakeSMC.kext:
I rebooted but am still getting a hard lock. I will edit this post with a pic of it in a sec.
EDIT: I figured it out. For some reason, I had to reinstall the corresponding FakeSMC Plugins...
Thank you so much for the details! I am able to boot off the USB now and am typing this from firefox after booting into safe mode (-x -v).
I loaded MultiBeast 5.1.2 and have setup the following. Is there anything else I need to try before rebooting? I read somewhere I need to rebuild my...
OK. Booted with my ML Unibeast USB and selected my system partition. I booted to it using using (-v -x) but it is hanging like it did when I tried without the USB.

1) Totally deleted /System/Library/Extensions/FakeSMC.kext
2) Downloaded multibeast 5.1 and ran it installed the sound, network, and 3rd party sata (no fakesmc).

Hang on boot/waitForSystemMapper...org.navi.OemBIOS... [SOLVED]
Just updated my box to v10.8.2 and installed the corresponding nVidia drivers. Now I am unable to boot without entering safe mode (-x). When booting w/ the verbose switch, the problem seems to be:

Well, I updated to 10.8.2 and installed the latest nvidia driver. Now I cannot boot without using safe mode.

The machine just hangs on the booting screen with the white background/Apple logo with animated spinning thing. I...
...are we still waiting for nvidia to release an updated driver that works naively with 10.8.2? Come on, nvidia: you've had access to this patch set while it was still under development!
This is getting really annoying. For whatever reason, I cannot boot into ML using my GTS450. The monitor just turns itself off about 30 sec after the apple logo comes up. So I wiped the drive and tried again: same thing!
I wiped the drive a 2nd time and this time put my old 8400GS back...
