My computer has been running stably for years but today randomly my audio is not working. I haven't installed anything recently or made any changes that would affect this whatsoever. The audio option I usually use "Built in Audio" is no longer listed. Not sure why my audio would have been...
Thanks for all replies. This sounds a bit more than I have time to deal with right now, I don't want to mess with my working Catalina/Windows 11 dual booting. I wish I had another PC or extra empty SSD to experiment on but for now I'm going to stick with what is stable until I have more of a...
My backup drive is an external, so if i just keep it unplugged until I need it shouldn't I be fine? Then I can use OpenCore bootloader to boot it? Or are you saying OpenCore will overwrite the Clover bootloader whenever I plug that drive in?
I went through and removed a lot of unneeded kexts from S/L/E folders before I installed Catalina because I read they are only needed in the EFI folder going forward.
BUT, is there any easy way to double check rather than going through each folder manually? (some utility maybe?) Perhaps I'll...
Hey thanks! So I just copy the contents of that folder to my EFI partition, then attempt to install Monterey? Looks like that EFI is for Big Sur, are the two OS's pretty interchangeable?
I have Clover bootloader on my backup Catalina external HD, would installing OpenCore on my main HD mess...
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I haven't kept up on hackintosh stuff over the past couple years. If I have a stable build of Catalina 10.15.7 and Clover version 5107 is it going to be a total pain in the ass to upgrade to Monterey using the newest version of Clover? I know OpenCore...
Yeah a mobo or PSU issue is what I'm leaning towards, it just sucks because my hardware is so new I didn't expect to be dealing with a failure. I wanted this to be a hackintosh problem damn it!
I'll try modifying my config.plist as you suggest, it won't hurt. I'm using Clover v. 5107.
Ever since upgrading to Catalina a few months ago I'm getting sporadic shut down stalls. The display turns off but the fans keep spinning and I have to do a force shutdown with the power button. This happens anywhere from once to a few times a week.
I've attached the shutdown stall log that I...
Anyone? I was able to translate my shutdown stall log with the spindump -i command but I can't really make sense out of it's output. Maybe someone more savvy can decipher it?
I tried rebuilding kext cache with Hackintool, but its too early to tell if it worked. I will update this post as solved if that ends up fixing the problem.
EDIT: Nope that didn't fix it. Can anyone help me?
Since upgrading to Catalina, everything is running smoothly except sometimes my computer refuses to shut down. The display will shut off but the PC remains on unless I manually power it off.
The weird thing is it's a sporadic issue, it shuts down completely fine maybe 75% of the time.
I...
That's strange because it let me modify /System before I did the new method. But either way my issue is mostly resolved so I'll just keep this configuration for now.
Ok so that seems to improve the banding a good amount. It's not perfect but it's workable now. In Preferences->Displays it now shows [monitor name] - forced RGB mode EDID override.
I'm also no longer able to modify the contents of System/Library/Displays/Contents/Resources/Overrides. I thought...
Since upgrading from Mojave to Catalina 10.15.7 I've noticed banding in my gradients around the UI and even in Youtube videos. I tried the Hackintool fix in this thread but no luck:

I updated to Catalina and am trying to get my CPU sensors to display in iStat Menus 6. It has never worked for me, I've always used Intel Power Gadget to get my CPU temps.
Other threads mention using VirtualSMC and it's corresponding plugins to get CPU temperatures but I'm using FakeSMC. Maybe...
