You have probably already solved this but I have the exact same system as you and also upgraded from an HD 6870 to a RX 580. I had the same black screen problem. The solution was to turn off CSM in the Bios. BUT finding CSM in the bios is actually tricky. You need to change the OS Type from...
I have been struggling with this MACH Reboot error for a few days, and it was super frustrating. I tried literally everything recommended in this thread and others, and even re-installed OS X. I could boot to Recovery mode and into my USB installer but that was it. I could not boot to my main...
Yes. I have an external graphics card so that is what I am using anyway. I had turned on my internal graphics just so that I could have Airplay, but that seems to have been a problem.
I'm having this issue too. Very frustrating! Pink madness.
EDIT - fixed it by changing my system def to Mac 3,1 and disabling my onboard graphics (which means I lose Airplay, but whatever).
Not sure what happened but this broke my audio on my Z68X-UD3H-B3 using F12 bios. I had to go back to MultiBeast 5.0.2 and use it to re-install the ALS889 driver. That fixed the audio.
Hi everyone. Anyone else using an i7-2700K? I haven't made the jump yet to 10.7.4, but I was hoping that we could compare notes on our results with this new SSDT stuff here. I will post back with my results soon. Thanks!
Having a similar issue here using the motherboard's onboard firewire and my DIGI002 in Logic. Sound works at first but eventually it freaks out and drops audio completely. I ordered a Symba PCI-e Firewire card which should arrive soon, so I'll let you know if that fixes the issue.
You could build your own... that is what I did. I bought a used Macbook airport card and a mini PCI-e adapter. There are instructions here in the forums, but it is very simple to do, cheap, and works great!
You, sir, must be some kind of super genius. THANK YOU!
I'm not evening running Pro Tools anymore, I was just trying to get my DIGI002 to work with Lion for Logic, and ran into this annoying KP.
Thanks for the excellent explanation! I didn't realize there was a difference between my audio chip and the new ones (never noticed that "a" at the end). Also, I wanted to say thanks for your work no enabling audio on the newer models, I am sure I'm going to need it once I update my motherboard.
Re: New Optimized AppleHDA for Realtek ALC 889 on Lion
Macman, could you explain why? I'm just trying to understand... on my board (an older EP45-UD3R, ALC889) I have DSDT enabled audio that survives updates without any kext required. I don't know if something is different on newer boards...
I went back through the sands of time and found the instructions that I originally followed. Anyone care to give this a shot on their Sandy Bridge system? The instructions are in post #388 here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140941&st=380&p=1229762&#.
Then if you...
Thanks for the reply. I actually do not know much about editing my DSDT either, but when I was building my current machine a few years back someone on another forum was kind enough to help me with it. What I am really wondering, though, is if the edits in my DSDT would be helpful to the larger...
Quick question... what advantage is there to using AppleHDA kext for ALC889 audio, instead of editing your DSDT to get the audio working? I do not have a Sandy Bridge hackintosh (yet), still on an EP45-UD3R... but my audio works perfectly via my edited DSDT. I'm trying to get prepared for...
