yo, this HPFC app on windows is awesome. the fan is off with browsing and for half of a movie (h.264) i was watching, switching between off and 2700rpm. it's pretty hot where i'm at too, so for light usage the fan doesn't need to come on. same can be done in osx now?

sorry, i meant the power rating for the resistor. like a low rated one may not handle the power it dissipates maybe. regarding fan replacement, it may be difficult to find a compatible one that is known to be quiet. i'll see what i can google later ...

Yeah, I'm gonna see about the possibility of replacing the fan. About the resistors, I think they would need be 1/2 watt or better because regular 1/4 watt resistors aren't good for these things from what I see on google. I probably won't try it, but man it would be nice to have a silent system.

old thread..60 circles is too slow for an ssd. Boot up for me is faster on lion than windows 7 with the same ssd. did you figure it out? kernel cache set to yes?

hmm, with no GE=no, the only downside seems to be dvd player not working. haven't tried steam, but this game (sonic fan remix) works. no problem with content creation programs either. still, i will get a DP to DVI connector anyway since i am too lazy to have a crack at editing anything right now...

thanks for the info guys. i'll take a crack at the edit or get a passive DP to dvi adapter. i haven't tried anything besides cinebench on my osx install, but if it can run that benchmark the same way as with duckweed loaded, and the whole OS seems accelerated....i'll do some more testing...
