A family member of mine has a Mac Pro 2008 as well and the video card recently died, I just picked up a EVGA GTX 740.
Didn't even need to install anything.
I have read around the internet and none of the old EDID edits and tricks won't work for Mountain Lion.. I tried Switchres but for some reason the new resolution never shows up when I save and restart (Am I do something wrong?)
Anyways if anyone could help me with this that would be...
The sad thing about the Atlona DVI to MPD converter is that the max resolution it can run when booting into Windows 7 is 1280x720 so I am gonna go with a monitor that is 2560x1440 and supports dvi and displayport in
Paradigm99,
Hey quick question those displays are all running at 1440p rite? How did you hook them up I have been on a search for the last 3 days for a video card that would run 3 1440p displays :D
I have 2 questions about this :D
a) Out of these 3 GPUs (Radeon HD 5850. Radeon HD 6850 (prefered), Radeon HD 6870) which one will support 3 dual link dvi ports?
b) Also what brand would I want, can someone give me a link I have been looking for hours but Im so confused
the 480 only does 2 in windows to thats proably the issue  im thinking about buying 2 6870s which will be $300 which isn't that bad but another $200 for displayport to dvi hurts bad..
I want a graphics card that can game in eyefinity when I boot into Windows 7 but then when I boot into Mac OSx I want it to be able to run perfectly all 3 monitors with no issues oh and I would rather not have a xfire/sli setup (ik that it doesn't work for mac to I have just had a lot of issues...
